Update on the Old Rectory.

Good evening. Remember this place? I've been back there today. My first visit to Claxby was in 2013.

I went back two times more. This pic is from 2022.
This is from November 2024. Just before it went to auction. I've pumped up the saturation on these two pics. It was almost totally covered with greenery.

Look at it now. The owner was there when I called today. He gave me permission to take these two photo's. There is still a lot more work to do. It is to be a family home. I am so pleased that it is being brought back to life.

Next door is the church. It was open so I went inside.

After Claxby I went to Market Rasen for a look around. It's late now and I am ready for bed, so I will post the pics tomorrow.
Bye for now. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. I think that will be the last Rectory update. No need to go back. There are plenty of new pastures to explore, even in my little corner of North Lincolnshire. Be nosy, snoop around a bit, and ye shall find.

  2. Not the prettiest piece of architecture I've ever seen - think I preferred it softened by the greenery! It reminds me rather of Thomas Hardy's Max Gate, although on a much grander scale. Pretty stained glass at the church.

    1. I think they have brought it back down to a blank canvas. It will be different in a couple of years time, with a much more tamed exterior.

  3. That's a nice ending to the story.

  4. So good to see this house rescued and transformed. I watch a few urban explorer channels and the number of empty properties being left to rot in the UK is phenomenal. So many places that could be made into homes rather than all the new builds.

    1. Sad to see so many places fall into disrepair. We don't need to cover open spaces with ugly boxes.

  5. What a beautiful house and wonderful that it is being restored. A huge project for the new owner! It would be nice to see it finished, if you do happen back that way in the future Ilona. H

    1. The inside is coming along nicely. With a bit more work he may be able to move his family in. With the amount of land it has I think it will be more like a five year project. He has help so maybe there will be some progress in the next year or so. I probably won't go back, or if I do it will be at least a year. It is someones private property.
