No self scanning for me

 Good evening.

A quick reminder. I often speak to people about this when I am out. It's good to see that not everybody wants to self scan, and not everybody is paying with a plastic card or phone. I think people are gradually getting the message.

Home Bargains have not yet brought in self scanning, neither has The Range. Aldi will open a person checkout if asked to do so. I always put my shopping on the conveyor belt with a green light above it. An assistant soon turns up, and I thank them and have a little chat.

Let's keep the checkout assistants in a job.

I've just put a video out on yoootooob but having trouble embedding it into a blog post. It has always been simple, but for some reason Blogger has changed the way they do things, and there is no direct link from one to the other. I shall have to play around with it tomorrow. I wish they would leave things along when they are working perfectly fine. In the meantime here is the video.
Time for a Mayze cuddle. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Absolutely ilona.💯🎯👌🫶. it kills Jobs and stops chatting which is important as many customers like a friendly chat with the staff at the checkout . I stayed in holiday inn a few weeks. And the bar wouldn't take cash. He said sorry its card. But even he hated this being forced upon us.. people should be able to use cash. And those that want card than it's there Choice. Give us choices.. there putting everyone in the one big cardboard 📦.. you can see what the Gov are doing. Causing misery especially the senior citizens who I feel for. Asking a person who is 95 to do online banking that what a lady told me recently who was 95 .she's said no way I draw cash out my bank and deposit it in,like it' as always been a system that worked well for generations. Why mess it up. This picture says it all .. you've said this before on a previous video. When the girl from Tesco you chatted too visited your Blog and left a comment I think. I refuse to use them staff keeps coming over unexpected item in bagging area just get staff on the Chuffin tills.be much easier instead of them hanging about like a spare part.. it's all to stop wages but there still being paid being stood about but I think not as much. Get bums on the checkout be easier for staff and thd customer. People are getting more thicker unable think for themselves. Wake up and see what the government is doing making us all as SHEEP'S 🐑 🐏 🐑 🐏 🐑

Levi xx.. wide awake club me and you ilona..

  2. We prefer to use the till, with the pleasant assistants, but even with the self service there is an assistant to help. There are shelf stackers too, busy keeping us supplied, and the home delivery packers who shopped for us during lockdown. There is the security guard too, and the trolley collector. We always greet them with a smile and a, “Good Morning.”

    1. For some people the only human connections they make are when they go to the shops. All the staff working in or around the shop have a roll to play. Meet and greet, help people find what they need, and make sure the shelves are filled. Every job is important.

  3. Personally, I prefer the self scan option, because I like to scan and pack shopping in my own time and order. Going through a manned checkout I always feel that I am holding up others when I take time to pack my bags (proper bags, not supermarket plastic). But, I still pay with cash, and the tills are useful for getting rid of surplus small change.

    1. If it works for you, then self scan.

  5. I will not take a big shop through self checkout. I don't work there and I don't get a discount for doing it myself.

People need work, big corporations don't need more profits.

    1. I think they have got a chuffing cheek asking us to serve ourselves.

  6. We flatly refuse to self scan. The shops don't pay us to be checkout assistants or reduce the cost of our bill. If they want our custom then they can darn well serve us properly.
