Hiya, I bet you thought I had dropped off the end of the world, no post yesterday because there is no signal here on the island of Mull. I am still snapping away so I will post the pics later. Tobermory is lovely, I have had some good walking, the views are fantastic.
Today I went to Iona on the ferry from Ffionphort. It took almost two hours to drive there due to most of the roads being single track and you have to share them with sheep and cows wandering across. It is most frustrating to have to keep stopping to pull in and let people by. The sea was very choppy but it only takes 15 minutes so no time to get seasick. I climbed up the highest point on Iona and the views were stunning. It reminds me a bit of the Cornwall coast.
The boat crossing from Oban was fine, quite smooth. The weather has improved a bit and we have had quite a lot of sun, even though it is quite windy at times.
Nice people again at the hostel, from France, Holland, Australia, and California. A good mix and a lot of laughs. I have another day here, so I'm off walking again tomorrow. Back to Oban on Sunday morning, then the weather will dictate what I do next. Must go, time is running out. Toodle Pip
Yes, I wondered where you'd got to! It sounds lovely up there, I can't wait to see the photos.
ReplyDeleteI was getting withdrawl symptoms! I've loved reading about your trip and looking at the photos.
ReplyDeleteYou've finally made in to Balamory! I'm enjoying reading about your trip. I hope at this time of the year it is midge free.
ReplyDeletePleased to hear you made it safely across, and that the weather has been kind to you. Was wondering when you get back over to the mainland, not far from Oban, I noticed there is the Island of Seil, also known as the Bridge over the Atlantic.

Enjoy the Island of Mull and, Iona, Abbey etc. Really looking forward to seeing your photographs when you get them posted up.
Missed my "fix" yesterday, glad it was down to signal problems though and you were ok.
All the best and have a safe journey back.
Yes, I was wondering about the midgies, but I think May is clear of them? I hope the weather stays nice for you. It's still blowing a gale here.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear what you are up to Ilona, wondered what had happened to Thursday! Sounds beautiful up there, would love to go sometime...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for photos!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time. Can`t wait to see more pics.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you are having a lovely time. I am looking forward to the photos. Hope the weather remains kind to you.
ReplyDeleteJust had a quick look at the Calmac website, I hope you got back to Oban ok, despite the disruption. Who needs rollercoasters when there's Calmac Ferries on a choppy day. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope your journey back was OK. I get seasick in a deep bath lol. Its certainly been a windy day today. I've logged on half a dozen times tonight to see if you have posted. Looking forward to seeing pics of Toblermory / Balamory. All my younger grandchildren love that programme and I'm sure I've seen them all a few times.
ReplyDeleteWell I think you must have dropped off the end of the world now Ilona! Or maybe you've discovered America?
ReplyDeleteKeep looking for your further news! I hope you're not suffering too much from the gales we have been getting here.
I hope you are ok, given the current weather conditions. Got gales and rain here, not very nice at all. Hope you're keeping ok. Looking forward to your next posting. All the best.
