Lily died just before six this morning, peacefully on a cushion in the kitchen. I awoke at 3.30am, something told me to get up. When I saw him I knew it was going to be vet day today, but he slipped away. He knew I was there. This photo was taken on Monday, he is lying in the sunshine with ginger Bugsy. Goodbye my little friend, my lovely Lily.
Isn't it strange how when we'er asleep we still know when things are not right.
ReplyDeleteI send my condolences.

Oh Ilona, my heart aches for you, we know only too well the sadness, lonelyness, just plain empty feeling of losing a treasured pet, it happened to us too. Time does heal, and you will remember the good times with a smile on your face, not for a while though, but believe me it will happen one day, but at this moment, think what a wonderful life you both shared together, it couldn`t have been better for both of you, of that you should be proud. Hugs.

Sending you love and hugs dear lady ..........
I'm crying tears with you :( We lost both of our kitties last year within 5 months of each other. They had been with us for 14 years so I feel your pain. Your new kitties came into your life at just the right time. As my vet said to us when we adopted a new kitty...I think you had a little "divine intervention" in picking out your new kitty. She has been a blessing to us (the little stinker...LOL). Here's a cyber (((HUG))) for you :)
ReplyDeleteI feel for you on this. Poor Lily. This has happened to me on countless occasions.
ReplyDeleteOh Ilona, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope you are alright. Please take care, and take a bit of time for yourself.

ReplyDeletelots of love Alison xxx
Ilona, I am so sad and sorry to hear about Lily. There is a book called "For Every Cat an Angel" which tells the story that every cat has a guardian angel and the guardian angel helps it find it's "forever person". Sadly the day must come when your cat is at the end of their earthly life and then it becomes a "forever cat" and rejoins it's angel. You were Lily's "forever person"♥ and he was your "forever cat". Thinking of you Ilona, Love Linda xxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Lily..he lived a wonderful life with you and was very lucky to have you as his owner/friend.

Hugs to you from afar. I have had four cats for most of their lives--three from kittenhood and I have lost one to old age and possible cancer. It is very hard when they go, but yours had a wonderful life with you, those memories are priceless.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Lily, he had a good life full of love with you. It must be a great comfort to you both that you were there at the end.
ReplyDeleteMy local supermarket has a collection bin for donated cat and dog food for the animal shelter. I will leave something in it in memory of Lily.
I'm so sorry that Lily has passed away. He owned a great human who loves him still. I hope your heart will find healing in your generous ways with animals.
ReplyDeleteLeslie from New Orleans
I am truly sorry...he joins my own beloved cats in heaven...
ReplyDelete"John 10:27

Cats, too...
I know what it's like to lose a furry friend. It breaks your heart to see them at the end.
ReplyDeleteIf angels do exist, I'm sure they are our beloved animals up there in heaven!
Thinking of you.
Dianne
I never have the right words to say but wanted you to know I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteLindy
So sorry about the lovely Lily. My son had a cat, Violet, who died a month or two ago, so perhaps with a violet and a Lily in cat heaven they will make a beautifully pair -- not to mention fragrance.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Lily - I'm hoping you know he had a longer and happier retirement as a result of your kindness, and that the other animals in your life are being kind to you.
ReplyDeleteKaren
So sorry to hear of your loss Ilona . Jules
ReplyDeleteI was very sad to read this yesterday Ilona, you gave him peace and tranquillity. I was unable to post a reply yesterday for some reason.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read your sad news - he looked such a lovely cat - they leave a pain in your heart don't they when they go - take care xxxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear the news, but relieved that you didn't have to make the awful decision , and that he was able to die at home, in a place he clearly loved and with you, who he clearly loved too.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you. Lily was lucky to have found you. I still miss my 2 even after 8 years have passed. Mine used to go on walks with us and our dogs and wait for me when I came out of work. There was always a wonderful welcome when I came home, something about their little heart shaped faces and trilling noise when trying to tell me something. All different but all having a special place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteRemeber there is always another one waiting in the wings.
Take care Midlands Annie
Very sad to hear of your loss
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss, it is so painful to lose a pet. You gave him a better life than what he had.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Lily, bless him. He knew you loved him and he loved you.
ReplyDeleteThat's why he stayed. It hurts so much when they have to go.
Take care Ilona.
Evie
How sad, I lost my cat Burrito a couple years ago it was a terrible thing to go through I was going through a very rough time in my life and he was always there for me ready to have a cuddle. It was a huge blow for me to loose him. I still miss my fat cat and I like to imagine he's in kitty cat heaven where his cat dish is always full and the moths and mice are fat and slow.
ReplyDeleteI've recently been reading your blog starting with the oldest posts, so have read lots about Lily. So sorry to hear that he has passed but it was wonderful for him to have 4 years love from you and to have you with him at the end. Please take no notice of the sour comments from his ex owner that's no way to treat a cat.
