I won't need a big dinner tonight, because I've had a big lunch. Well it was a big lunch, fish and chips, but I forgot to take the before picture, so here is what's left of it. I've left the fish skin, yuck, I think it looks horrible and I certainly don't want to eat it. There was a big pile of mushy peas, a bit too dry for me, so I've left a few. The chips were lovely, all brown and crispy, just how I like them.
Four plates, four people. This is Helen, remember Helen, mum of Henry choc lab.
This is Spike and Roy, friends of Helen and me.
This is me and Spike. She is called Spike, because she used to have short spikey hair, it has grown a bit longer now.
We had our lunch in the Bay Horse pub in Winteringham, not at the world famous posh restaurant and hotel called Winteringham Fields. Oh no, couldn't afford that place, the pub was very nice thank you.
I went back to Helen's place for a catch up natter, and Henry posed for this Christmassy photo.
It was a lovely three hour break to get me out of the house. There's been no rain today, but it is very gloomy. Think I'll go out for a walk around the village now to work that big meal off. Tatty byes.Toodle pip. Have a nice weekend.
Lunch looked very nice. I always crave a bit of salad for tea after Fish and Chips. Cod or Haddock?
ReplyDeleteCod, md, and I had a plate of salad for tea :o)
DeleteGood for you ! A nice lunch with friends...nothing better!
ReplyDeleteYou cannot beat fish n chips up in your neck of the woods Ilona, glad you enjoyed it and I love the photo of Henry, what a poser :0)
ReplyDeleteMy dog, Bob, used to have his picture taken with the Christmas tree each year. He was the original party animal, if there was a party hat to wear, he'd have that on as well. We still miss him; it is just 7 years since he left for the Rainbow Bridge. Might have mentioned this before, but we are on countdown to new dog, waiting for hubby to retire in 2014 and then we are going to get another one, when we have time to look after him.

PS Lunch looked lovely!
Henry seems to match the furniture! It was a pretty nice day today although I had a miserable afternoon taking a 'short cut' through Sainsburys car park, only to realise one hour later that there had been accident causing the whole of the road system in the town to come to a standstill. Never again! I'd bought my petrol there, then gone to park at Staples, and as it's next to the S's car park, just thought it would be 'clever' to cut through as there are lights at the other exit!
ReplyDeleteI like fish and chips minus the fish!
Traffic is horrendous at the moment, people are shopping like crazy.
DeleteLove fish and chips! Looks like you had a really nice lunch with friends. Glad to see you are getting out and about. Am jealous though of your nice fish and chips lunch. We have a few Scottish fish and chips restaurants in my town (used to be mostly Scottish people here but alot of them have moved out) and we used to get some takeout dinners once in awhile. Haven't done that in some time. Maybe it's time to try it again. I usually cook it myself but I don't seem to be able to get that certain taste that they do.
ReplyDeleteJan here.Glad to see everyone scoffed their lunch,I hate eating with people who only pick at food.Pub meals are usually good value, but the drinks are extortionatley priced, especially soft drinks and I'm usually driving.I find that soda water with a dash of lime is usually the best value on offer, cheaper than a bottle of water, which I don't understand.I have it with 'ice and a slice' and it looks pretty good!Don't know anyone else who asks for it though.I'm not really that mean but I hate being ripped off.Probably because I'm more used to having a flask prepared at home as a dog walker.Everything tastes good outdoors.Love the picture of Henry.Your friends look lovely, funny how 'warmth' seems to shine through in a photo isn't it?Your pic looks great aswell.I've developed a bit of a thing with my eyes, literally can't face a flash from the camera.Quite a performance when I did training for a using a difribulator and need a photo taken for the I.D. badge thingy that said you'd passed.Think the fella from the ambulance service that did the training and took the photos was getting a bit worried!Got the pic in the end but not flattering, still, don't suppose someone in a state of collapse would be too worried about that!Hope you're week-end goes okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful chocolate lab. Glad you had a good time.
