At last, a nice day for a walk. Blue skies, but it was quite windy. I did just over five miles in a couple of hours. Just the job, blows the cobwebs off, ha ha. Not a lot to take photo's of, fields, fields, and more fields.
Hey, look at me, have I got into the Christmas spirit at last? No not really. I've got the lights out but decided not to bother with the small artificial tree.
I wonder how much electricity these small led lights use, maybe it would be cheaper to use them all the year round and not switch on the room lights at all. Perhaps it might be worth buying some extra sets and some spare bulbs, when they mark them down after Christmas. I do like to leave the light on in the hallway for safety reasons, because I am constantly going up and down stairs and wouldn't want to trip over the cats in the dark.Well I'm almost ready for Christmas I don't know about you. Yes I have been reading all about your preparations, and mine is all done, except, just got to go to Tesco tomorrow at about 5pm, to buy up all the bargains. I don't care if there is not much left, as I'm not fussed about what I eat, as long as it is cheap and not junk. The shop shuts at 7pm, so I'm prepared to hang around to get those last minute reductions. No don't feel sorry for me because I will be looking for cheap food for my Christmas dinner, in my book, cheap tastes better.
Toodle pip.
Merry Christmas and all the best for 2013.

Cool I was sent out a few years ago by my sister to get something that was forgotten from the supermarket. I managed to bag 3 whole fresh salmons, marked down to 50p each. Good luck with the bargains!
ReplyDeleteHope you get plenty of bargains tomorrow :-)

Merry Christmas Ilona.
ReplyDeleteOne thing living by yourself is that you can do as you please. Keep the cats company.
Tomorrow I am off to the seaside. A large house right on the seafront.Plenty of dog walking.
Just hope their is not to many disagreements as lots of people will be there.
Rather be at home. House Fairy.
Have a peaceful time. All the best for 2013.
ReplyDeleteThe fairy lights look lovely don't they, I'm always tempted to leave some out long after Christmas. My little grandaughters have some in their bedrooms all year round.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and good health for Christmas and the new year.
Hi Ilona
ReplyDeleteI definitely don't feel sorry for you at all, you are living exactly as you wish to! The lights do look pretty. Enjoy those bargains :) We had family Christmas yesterday, SO much food left over but all packed up in the freezer and nothing wasted!
Judy xx
We have a string of rope lights that run down one side of the staircase that are on every night. Gives a nice glow and I don't have to worry about missing a step.
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas!
Happy Christmas to you and the cats x
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and all the best for 2013. Oh, and thank you for your entertaining blog! :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Ilona, hope you get some good bargains. x
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Ilona, have a good one, doing exactly what you want to.
ReplyDeleteHappy yellow sticker hunting, our Tesco closes at 5 o'clock, Asda at 6; so I'll be there to see the final reductions at both of them. Me and a few others, a lot of people are on the yellow sticker hunt lately, must be a sign of hard times?
ReplyDeleteAlready got our Christmas dinner, yellow sticker everything; chicken, brussels, carrots and parsnips.
Merry Christmas to you Ilona and all your furry friends:) Good luck with your shopping bargains. Very best wishes for 2013♥ Linda xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, Your Christmas lights look very pretty. Not sure if having them as light for the hall etc would be a good idea, incase of overheating and there being a fire risk. What about little plug-in night lights? I'm sure you'll bag a few bargains tomorrow, Ilona. Was in Tesco today and there was certainly a lot of veg, and I'm certain you'll get clementines too. Gordon Ramsay was making some fancy shortbread the other night on his programme, Christmas with Gordon: Stuff the Turkey! and he put a blob of creme fraiche on the shortbread and, then a segment of clementine for a festive dessert. Was thinking about the wine you got yourself, any spices so you could make some mulled wine instead, if it's not to your liking as is? Just reminded myself about Norfolk Punch. Well, it's late. Happy Christmas, Ilona and all the very best for 2013 when it comes around. Take care, Christy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Xmas Ilona!hope you grab some great bargains,i don't feel sorry for you,i envy you!your an insperation!have a great time!xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Xmas Ilona, and thank you so much for your lovely blog which has been entertaining, sad, educational and downright funny and has had me in stitches at times. Good luck on the bargain hunt, I shall be fascinated to hear about what you found, and what you had for your xmas dinner. We shall also be having a quiet xmas, just the two of us, hubby and I, so lovely not to have to worry about anyone else and all that cooking and stress, we didn't even do presents this year. No doubt we shall spend xmas day out birdwatching as usual and come home in the evening to have our dinner and then slob out in front of the telly to watch Downton Abbey. I will think of you eating your bargains under the fairy lights! Keep warm ... cuddle a cat, best wishes, Sue xxx
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Ilona! I'm off to Tco later today too! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Tesco shopping; buy, buy, buy (I'm a shareholder!).
ReplyDeleteI have to go early this morning to get my Turkey. Unfortunately France has yet to hear of evening price cuts. All the best. Cro xx
Hi Iona all the best for a lovely Christmas. Spend it just the way you want to. Let's see what 2013 has to throw at us!! All my very best wishes kind regards jean.
ReplyDeleteAll the very best for a wonderfully simple Christmas, it really is the best sort.
ReplyDeleteHappy bargain hunting, make sure you have room in the freezer for all the goodies that, fingers crossed, will be there.
Sue xx
Ilona, I love Christmas lights and leave some of them up until March to cheer us up in the long dark winter. I think that the newer LED lights use even less electricity than the CFL lightbulbs in our lamps and fixtures.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Christmas and happy bargain food shopping.

Have a lovely peaceful day tomorrow Ilona with your puss-cats, I am quite envious as I have all the family here that will be waiting for a traditional festive feast to be on the table at lunchtime and lots of presents that I have bought and wrapped that will be opened and mostly forgotten about by the next day! I'm sure I will enjoy it once we get going, we do all get along well so that's good, I just get a bit stressed in the run up.... Hugs for 2013 xxx
ReplyDeleteI am with you all the way, I buy bargains and yellow stickered food all the time. The freezer and fridge are full and the larder is stuffed. Our Christmas dinner is done on the cheap, some is free, all the tastier. happy Christmas and a healthy new year.
ReplyDeleteLet us know what bairgains you get !
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Happy Christmas, Ilona. I'm sure you'll have a lovely peaceful day with the cats. Let us know what bargains you manage to find this evening. Very best wishes for 2013, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a merry Christmas, Ilona! I love fairy lights; I would keep them up all year if I could, but protests from my family prevent it! :( Have a lovely time. xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas, and thank you I have been reading your blog for the last 6 months and have enjoyed an insight into your life Best wishes for 2013 and keep blogging Louise xx ps we will also be last minute bargain shopping this evening xx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, and Thank you I have been reading your blog for the past 6 months and look forward to your daily updates. Best wishes for 2013 and keep blogging. Louise xx ps we will be out last minute bargin hunting later this afternoon xx
ReplyDeleteHave a very Merry Christmas and I wish you a happy and frugal new year! Wish we had yellow stickers here. No such luck. Anything that is marked down in price is garbage. The fruit is usually all bruised or half rotten by then. Oh well. Love your lights. They probably don't use that much electricity. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Ilona, hope you have an nice day and a lovely cheap and cheerful Christmas dinner (can't wait to see what you come up with from Tesco!)
ReplyDelete:o) ooh and think of all the cheap stuff you might find in the shops after xmas is done! ;o)
Have a good Christmas. Not many bargains here but picked up reduced bread and mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteIlona,
ReplyDeleteLED lights are cheaper and last much longer. I learned a trick about softening the harsher light they give. Paint the bulbs with pale pink fingernail polish. Much nicer. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Bonnie in Chicago
Merry Christmas, Ilona! Your blog has been a fantastic resource and a daily read for me. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Ilona.
ReplyDeleteHusband and I will be having our tea & toast in bed on Christmas morning and unwrapping our presents. One thing will be missing. No dear little dog on the bed with us this year, he used to love helping us undo the parcels.
Looking forward every day to reading your blog.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
Wendy (Wales)
Merry Christmas Ilona!
ReplyDeleteIf you shop for lights after Christmas, I have to agree with Bonnie in Chicago, look for the LED bulbs. They're safer because they don't heat up. They also use less electricity, and last longer than regular bulbs. =)
Enjoy your day!
-Karen in Connecticut
Ilona led lights are fab. if you get white ones go for the warm colour ones in the sales bargains. The white ones are super bright and look a little harsh.
ReplyDeletewhat about making a sun jar?
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/how-to-make-your-own-sun-jar-89236
I was bought a moon jar as a present, the light is blue and my friend says it looks dodgy! LOL
LED fairy lights are much cheaper than a main light Ilona! I have four sets strewn around my living room and 1 set in my bedroom for lighting and it cut my electricity bill by £10 a month. It also looks really pretty and I like pretty :)
