Hello. I was able to get on with some work in the garden today. The corner piece I built on the left hand side wasn't quite right so I had to remove it and change the tall corner post for a shorter one. Then I built up some height on that side so the cross bar sits on the top of the door, which is a better angle than on the post. I have two bars joining the two sides, and it is very stable and firm.
A bit more work on the tops are needed, then the roof can be fitted, Still looking into what I can use for that. The floor needs sorting out, the slabs need fitting in properly. It started to rain about 5pm so I had to pack up and come in. Dinner tonight was Quorn chunks cooked in a pan with some oil, with eight shredded sprouts. Garlic powder and turmeric, and a few other spices were chucked in. Then some water, bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes, add porridge to thicken. Served with steamed veg and two fresh tomatoes. It was delicious and there's enough for another meal tomorrow.
It's one week since I did the yellow sticker shop. I still have a swede, potatoes, grapes, sprouts, carrots, and one tomato left. All went out of date a week ago, still perfectly edible. No need to go shopping just yet, I have enough. Thanks for popping in, off to feed the cats now. No sunset tonight, it's raining.
Toodle pip.
That summerhouse is starting to look really good. Shall follow this progress with envy.
ReplyDeleteits raining here too. looks like you wont get in the garden tomorrow either if the forecast is correct.
ReplyDeleteHello,Ilona. The weather your having postpones things a bit but then gives you the opportunity to ruminate on the next step.It looks nice and solid now.I wonder if you've tried sitting inside yet just to get an idea of the feel of the place?Hope you have a good weekend, regards,D.
ReplyDeleteIt bet your neighbours are watching the construction with amazement :-)
ReplyDeleteRain comes when it's time to stop working so hard! Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou made me want to go skip diving... all skips have a door in among the the junk and it is clearly skip season where I live. Loads of houses sold this past week so that of course means 'skips on drives' It just goes to show how much junk we all keep that will one day end up in a skip.
ReplyDeleteNewspapers printed by the offset method burn aluminum plates as part of the printing process. These plates are the size of a double newspaper page. They can't be reused, and the back side is clean. Depending on how you frame the roof, you might be able to piece together the aluminum plates...bearing in mind that if they aren't fastened down quite right, the wind could pick them right up and blow them off. The edges are also very sharp. Call your nearest newspaper printing plant and ask if they have used offset plates for sale. Back in the day, when I worked on newspapers, we sold them very cheaply. Most newspapers probably recycle them, but would probably sell them to you at scrap prices.
