Hello. Please excuse me if I make this a short post tonight. It's not that long ago when Ollie and Alfie the two black labradors I used to walk, passed away. First Alfie then Ollie two months later. Today I have had the sad news that Lady has also passed away. Graham her owner rang me this morning. Like the others, she lost control of her back legs. I don't like the term, 'put to sleep', but the kindest thing you can do for an animal is to not let it suffer.
I have been walking these dogs for over three years. They have been such good fun. Even though they weren't my dogs, I loved them just the same. Rest in peace lovely Lady, I shall miss you.
I walked past this spot today where I took the photo. She was in a field of sugar beet.Sorry, can't write any more, catch you tomorrow.
Ilona.
So sorry, these furry friends are just as hard to take as losing upright ones.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Ilona. She was beautiful.

ReplyDeleteWe know how it feels all too well, our 2 yorkies went together a year ago aged 16 it is the most awful thing but they gave us their unconditional love and endless amusement and comfort. Rosie our spaniel was lonely so we now have Teddy a terrier as her new buddy she is cute and hyper and her favourite toys are Rosie's ears We owe a lot to our dogs ( even when they are scared of the fireworks and pee on your bed!)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, we love and miss our furry ones so much when they have gone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful girl Lady was.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have lost another four legged friend. I know just how that feels.

Sorry to hear about Lady. Love, Helen xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely looking dog, I had one that looked similar when I was younger. "Bandit".
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Illona, the loss of these three friends so close together is indeed a sad loss of friends for you .
ReplyDeleteOh, so sorry Ilona. Heartbreaking .You had happy times with them . As you said , you can't let the animal suffer. Strange though how we let humans suffer terribly...sometimes for years. I'm thinking of a particular family member who had a heart attack when he was 42. He was fit. A runner who had run long distance including a couple of marathons. It didn't kill him but he is looked after 24/7 in a home. Can't do anything for himself. Incontinent. Doesn't know who people are. He is 52yrs old now. We all wish that they hadn't have resuscitated him. He is a loss...but still here.
ReplyDeleteThere unconditional love makes it heartbreaking tp say goodbye. Much love and hugs. Xxx
ReplyDeleteYou are such a caring person. I am sure the dogs and the owner thought the world of you. JanF
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Lady. That photo of her is stunning.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs xx
My heart aches for you, my sweet friend. In October last year, I had to say goodbye to my little Axle. These creatures bless us with their lives, giving love freely without expectation.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathies to both the owner and you. Remember that all our furry friends will wait for us patiently on the Rainbow Bridge. This I truly believe.
Sending love and comforting thoughts across the pond.

So sorry to hear his. RIP little Lady.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about this beautiful little girl.
ReplyDeleteWe had the same problem with our two wonderful German Shepherd girls and it is heartbreak to see them suffer. Lady will always live in your heart and one day you will be able to think of her with joy in your heart instead of of the pain you are feeling now.
Rest in peace beautiful Lady and God bless you Ilona.
Sending you lots of love.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your heartache. My dog passed and I miss her so. I hope your heart heals soon knowing how much good you gave to their lives. Hugs....
ReplyDeleteI have only just read your sad news. I'm so sorry. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter one jot that she wasn't your dog, you had a lot of contact with her, so it will be very upsetting that she is no longer around. I well remember how upset I was at the passing of my neighbours dog. It hurt just as if he were mine, because I loved him. You know Lady had a good life, and you were part of that. X
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your sweet dog friends.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, I am a newbie at your blog, and have been really enjoying reading about your ideas, advice and antics this last week. I just wanted to say that I am thinking of you following the loss your dog friends Lady, Ollie and Alfie. It's so hard when an animal you love and which isn't your own dies - most people don't get the strength of feeling possible. But nice to see so many like minded folk you have gathered together here. Generally speaking, you are an inspiration - thank you. Jo, Streatham, London.
ReplyDeleteShe was a beautiful girl. xx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Lady. My heart goes out to you Ilona.
ReplyDeleteKnow how you must feel, lost my precious cat Kinky, just before Christmas. Hugs.
