Video killed the radio star ;o)

Hello. Another fun day, chatting on the radio. This time it was BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire. I sat there at the ready with my notes, waiting for the phone call which came at 10.30am. Marian was the presenter, she was very easy to talk to. If you want to listen to it, click on the link and slide the button along to 1 hour 35 minutes. . The interview is in two parts, with music in the middle, and finishes on 1 hour 58 minutes. It is only available for 29 days. The sound quality is not very clear at my end, I think I have my mouth too close to the phone. I noticed a couple of times I stumbled on my words, must try not to do that in future.

BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire

I thought it would be fun to set my camera up to record me while I was speaking, but of course you only get my side of the conversation. I had been listening to the programme live on the iplayer from the start, but as soon as the phone call came I had to switch it off. Only the first part of the interview is on this video. I've put it on  yooootoooob. Have a look at my facial expressions, what a larf, ha ha. I am looking at the computer screen most of the time.

I'm going to be doing it all again tomorrow, on the Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2 at about 12.30pm. Jeremy won't be there, Vanessa Feltz is standing in for him. I won't be making a film of it so it doesn't matter what I look like. It won't be long before I chop my hair, it's getting too long.

I've stuffed my face with a big dinner tonight, tons of veg, I need to be getting out for a walk soon and I still feel full. Maybe walking it off will be a good idea.

Thanks for popping in. Catch up soon. Toodle pip

  7. I enjoyed listening to you on this interview and am glad I could access it from the US. She certainly let you present a more realistic description of your life than some of the print articles have done.

  12. Hi. I have only been reading your blog for a short time compared to many of your readers but you are so right when you say that those writing comments and making assumptions don't know the real you. They should indeed read your blog to gain some insight into the person you are. I think I read a couple of posts and remember thinking what a fantastic interesting woman you are and I'm not wrong. Also when you say that having lots of money gives you more to worry about I couldn't agree more. I have a friend of over 30 years whose sole aim in life has been about earning more and accruing more stuff. She is so unhappy most of the time. Is it worth it? Not to me. As a household we have a lot less money coming in however, due to some good advice from blogs mainly yours and Martin Lewis lol our lifestyle has not changed too much. I've said this before you are an inspiration and certainly not a mean queen. X

    1. I agree, it was taken competely out of context and is annoying. I thought Ilona handled the comment in good spirits, I would have flared up.

  18. I watched your youtube video - you made me laugh with the 'thumbs up' and the other little things you do - reminds me of when I'm on the phone and my daughter is sat nearby and we do that same sign language together haha. Good interview and she let you say what you wanted - much better than the 'written out of context' you've had lately :)

  19. Hi Ilona,
What is it with us Brits that we have to put people down all the time. This tea bag thing is getting out of hand. Do tell them that you don't drink tea. I wouldn't have stuff in my house that I was not going to eat or drink. I have made cakes when people have visited to be told that they don't eat cake for one reason or another and then I have to eat it! I wouldn't keep tea bags in the house either as I don't drink tea but my husband does.

  21. I enjoyed the radio two interview and thought you sounded so natural, confident and easy to listen too. I knew already everything you said from your blog etc but it was lovely to actually hear your voice through the radio live. I think we are still feeling a little sense of reflected fame through you. Keep up the good work, you are doing a fine job.

  23. I haven't listened to your interview today, yet, but it was a really nice interview on Radio Coventry yesterday. I think by the end you had really convinced Marian that your way of living is just common sense. Well done!
