Sunrise at Happyland Castle

Hello. Famous shed builder and Queen of Tightwad Towers has once again produced another stunning work of art. All the materials used are scraps and the frame is an old one painted in a funky plum colour to give it a new lease of life. Machine and hand stitching was used to add detail to the fun folksy design. 









Another one done. I'm pleased with it. I chose a darker colour for the frame because a white one would have made it look wishywashy.

    Can I ask if it is all hand sewn? The patchwork looks like machine zig zag.
    It really is stunning.

    You have inspired me, I have some canvasses that due to the sun, the picture has faded. I thought about repainting them, then I thought about covering them in wall paper. I may do some patchwork and put a design on top.
    But I don't think they will compete with yours.

      Hi. The patchwork is zigzag machined in three different shades of green. I did start couching it but was having problems making neat junctions where two lines met, and it was going to take ages. Using the machine was quicker and easier, and I think, looks just as good. The wavy lines in the sky are machined, all the rest is hand stitched. I made it easy for myself by using fabric that doesn't fray for the trees, sun, and castle.

      Yes, have a go. You can paint over the top of the canvases, or glue on patchwork fabric pieces with PVA glue if you want texture. Or you could scrunch up tissue paper and glue that on to give it more texture, then paint over the top of it.

      There is a wonderful children's book author named Debbie Clement who illustrates her books using her quilts. just google her name...by the way, I loved the sun in your picture!

    This is absolutely gorgeous. The intricate detail is wonderful, you certainly put some work into these pics. I wouldn't have the patience,but I admire this type of artwork.Must be so satisfying to look at your finished product on the wall.You are certainly going to have a great collection to show or even sell one day.I bet people would pay good money for art like that!

    This is yet another brilliant piece of art. I like how the fabric scraps look like flower gardens. To quote you from a more recent post, "Let me know when you have finished with [it]." Yes, I thought that commentor's post was most ridiculous. I say that to people all the time and they never take any offense to it; they take it as a compliment.
    You are really an inspiration.
