Hello. I need to do something with my hair. It's hanging around my face, in my eyes, and annoying me so I clip it up out of the way. I only do this in the house though, it's not really a good style for a 67 year old woman to be showing off walking around the streets.
Wondering what to do next. It definitely needs a trim, but I am not keen on the mousy brown colour. I think blonde suits me better, or maybe I should go a little bit red, like the pic on the sidebar. I quite like that colour. Maybe I should go completely whacky bonkers and have it multicoloured. Or shave it off. Or be a punk. Or have a perm. I will think about it.
I did my walk in the dark tonight, I wanted to see the big bright and shiny super moon. I caught a fleeting glimpse as it emerged briefly from behind the clouds. It was only a second or two. Bit disappointing really.I'm going to watch a bit of tele now on yoootooob. Don't watch BBC iplayer any more, don't have a licence. Found some interesting programmes on Channel 4od yesterday. Three Grayson Perry programmes, watched them back to back while I was sewing.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon.
Toodle pip
I had my hair like that sometimes as a child. I think your hair colour in the main picture looks good - not mousey brown. Go for something flattering around the chops is always good advice. Natalie
ReplyDeleteJust saw a Grayson Perry mini exhibition in Canterbury on Saturday so will catch up on the series too, hopefully. Good old YouTube, eh?!!
ReplyDeleteHi. The Grayson programmes are called 'Who Are You', and are on Channel 4od. They may be on yoootooob as well, but I didn't look there.
DeleteA licence isn't that expensive..you can even pay weekly now...I love all the catch ups
ReplyDeleteI like to go a bit rusty in the autumn... just a wash in wash out (they don't. I find that they last a few washes, I love my hair now that it is short. So easy to take care of.
ReplyDeleteRed, go on, you know you want too. Perfect Christmas season colour for winter. Blond bombshell for summer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a nice auburn. That way you would not notice the roots as it grows. Treat yourself to a professional haircut, go ahead, you deserve it and it will make you feel good. Let them pamper you a little.
ReplyDeleteAuburn sounds good, but a hairdresser, maybe not.
DeleteThe hair dresser is boring not pampering! And nine times out of ten you don't get what you want or even a good rendering of what you don't. If I could cut my own hair I certainly would but I can't. I hate going to the hairdresser though. My friend cuts her own hair and it looks impeccable.
DeleteMy sister had her head shaved to deal with all the hair loss during chemo. She says she never wants long hair again because she enjoyed the ease of care with it gone.
ReplyDeleteShort hair looks good on a pretty face, but mine isn't.
DeleteI know you often say long hair doesn't suit you, but the photos I have seen of you where it is longer looks very nice. I have grown my hair long because it means I don't have to bother having it cut, I just trim it occasionally and tie it in a bun. I used to dye it all kinds of colours but I have just got too lazy to do that now. I dye it near to my natural colour so I don't have to keep doing the roots so often.
DeleteRed hair always cheers me up! Mine has been every colour of the rainbow - and then some! I always figure - it's just hair, it will grow back.
ReplyDeleteGot a great view of the moon last night - extra bright and shiny!
Go red as you dare and cut the bangs so that they are not able to fall in your eyes whichever way you swing your head. You are very active so try all ways!

FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE !!!
DeleteThis made me laugh! When we spent time in your wonderful country, I felt the same way when I heard "bangers" as in bangers and mash.........I thought SAUSAGE SAUSAGE SAUSAGE!!! It is great fun to learn about our similarities and differences!
DeleteOops! I never realized I had used that word! Coming up to 50 years living over here! Thanks for the laugh! JanF
DeleteMy bangs are needing a trim and will be getting one later this week. I get my hair trimmed 3x a yr. We walked un the rain tonight. Saw no moon. Got wet but 1wore boots and could walk in puddles when I wanted to. I don't watch regular tv any more. Cable too expensive! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteOh how I hate that expression. I have a fringe.
DeleteNot sure why everyone is pushing red hair. From general public comments on other forums which tend to be pejorative and the fact that children get bullied for having it, no one likes it. I often think that when advice is asked for, people tell you to do unflattering things. So, they tell people with beautiful long hair to cut it off (more flattering, youthful, would suit you to have a change etc.) Often it just looks like sabotage to me - the same kind of person that titters to themselves when their friend leaves a shop with a dress that makes them look like a tightly wrapped sausage. Yes, I do believe people are mean like that, and more than just a few! Choose something soft and flattering and you will know better than we do what you like. Red can make a statement which can be good but it is entirely up to you.
DeleteYou need to get some nicer friends. My teenage daughter dyes her blonde hair 'ginger'. It looks stunning and she gets a lot of compliments.
DeleteThere are so many shades of red, including ginger. I didn't ask for advice.
Delete(Above comment to anon not MQ)
DeleteMy above comment also to Anon, not you Becky.
DeleteStrong tea from the leaves of the walnut (Genus: Juglans) can also color the hair in shades of coppery-red color. clean hair is washed this tea, leaves half an hour and washed with water. Voila! :)
ReplyDeleteJust go natural I'd say, it looks like you have natural dark brown hair. You don't want to be putting all those chemicals on your scalp, they'll be leeching into your brain in no time at all!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. They have been leeching in for 50 years.
DeleteYou don't seem overly concerned but if chemicals are an issue you can always use henna. It is likely to turn an orangey, rusty, auburn red (a bit like the lovely photo in the side bar). It makes hair shine and never fades (it has to be cut out). Because of its permanency it works out dirt cheap. A faff to use but when its done its done.
DeleteDear lord I've been colouring my hair since I was 16 when I got my first job in a hair salon and I've not stopped since. My hair now is silver at the front grey through the top and still auburn at the back. I'm contemplating having mine cut short and letting the grey come through then have it coloured white blond. I'm in love with lovelygrey's hair it's fab lol.
ReplyDeleteBlonde sounds great. Give it a go. I went blonde for 15 years and then back to brunette. If you need a change go for it. Fun is good here. You have a smiley face so whatever you choose your personality will shine through. Think you are doing really well re Rocky. It's not easy to manage loss, so doing something to help you feel good. xx
ReplyDeleteGo red for the autumn and winter, it suits you, then re-think in the spring. I have never heard the expression 'bangs' for a fringe; this reminded me of a story of how words mean different things this side of the pond to USA & Canada. The late comedienne and singer Marti Caine was on a chat show (about 30 years ago) and being a northern lass, said that in the lift on the way down to one of her shows with her male agent they received an electric shock which temporarily stopped the lift. When she got on stage (somewhere in America) she apologised for being late and said, 'my agent and me had a bang (electric shock) in the lift'. Needless to say, the American audience was stunned and then laughed. Language is a strange thing. Amanda
ReplyDeleteHaha I have had to start doing the exact same thing with my fringe. I'm trying to grow it out so it fit's in the the clip I wear when I'm at work but the in between stage is driving me potty. I feel your frustration lol :-)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, Marty Cane having a bang in the lift made me laugh out loud.Sorry not to add to the fringe or colour debate but I have got stuck on that comment and it keeps making me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI like the red, it suits you.
