Hello. The bottle top heart is finished at last. It looks lovely, I am pleased with how it has turned out. there are 55 plastic milk bottle tops, plus some smaller ones around the outside to fill the gaps. Each one is stitched into place on four sides.
I made a video with instructions on how to cover the tops with fabric. If you want to do this and don't have a wire heart shape like mine, you could arrange them on a piece of thick fabric, stitch them down, and make a wall hanging.
No storms here, it's dry and sunny and a bit windy, so I'm off outside now. More jobs to do in the garden. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

Loved it! Very clear insructions and you make it look so easy. May have a go when I have enough bottle tops to make a Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so nice. You've got some time into making it and it will bright up any room with happy color.
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you a lovely day.
Connie :)
Looks absolutely fabulous! Another job well done. No storms here either, I’ve spent a couple of hours in the garden weeding today too. Hope fur babies are well, xxxx
ReplyDeleteIn the USA we call the gathered fabric disks yo-yos. They were all the rage for quilt tops in the 30's
ReplyDeleteHi...AWSOME!! I love your videos, maybe you could treat us all to 1 a week 😊
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! You are incredibly creative.
ReplyDeleteI love the back of it as much as the front of it!,If you get my meaning, lol.Ive got a bag of bottle tops that I have been saving, but now that Ive seen how to do this,Im going to make some of those myself.Ive been sorting some old flowery summer dresses out that Ive had for about 7 years and they were from the charity shop,so I think that Ive had my moneys worth out of them. But because they had been washed so much,I didnt think that they were good enough to give back to the charity shop...the material has gone a bit limp on them.So this has saved them being cut up for rags! You have made it look so simple on your video!.Im going to stitch mine maybe on some of my recycled bags or even my favourite old Levi jacket.Ive also got some of that fluffy white stuff that came out of old settee cushions, instead of cotton wool...I knew it would come in useful one day! Thanks Ilona,Your finished piece looks amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteI just finished watching the video with Jenny. I told her before about this project so it was good we could watch your tutorial together. We are off to Pickering tomorrow with the EYMS Moors bus - it will be nice to see some different charity shops - fingers crossed for some bargains! Have a great week in whatever you are doing :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good time at Pickering, I love it there.

What a fantastic result !
ReplyDeleteIt may be possible to bend a sturdy wire coat hanger into that shape, attach fabric then apply the fabulous covered tops.
Have fun everyone, creativity is awesome.
That is very attractive. I have a wire bunny that could use the same treatment!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, you certainly have a good eye. A few more items saved from the tip.
ReplyDeleteNow that is utterly gorgeous. I would happily display it on my wall. I wonder if I could bend a wire coat hanger into a heart shape and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThis has turned out so well ... a beautifully piece of art that could grace any wall,
ReplyDeleteJust brilliant ... upcycling with style and panache!
You are blessed with a vivid imagination, Ilona. I love this heart.
ReplyDeleteI really like that--so cheerful and a nice balance of colors.
ReplyDeleteSuch a clever idea and very effective. I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, Ilona, the heart looks amazing. I like the sound of a Christmas tree too. Thanks for the great video :)
