I went to an embroidery workshop last week, and this is what I have ended up with. We were given the felt and a choice of motifs to work on. I thought I would do the butterfly as I hadn't done one before.
I tried some new stitches. I only made a start on it at the two hour class, so finished it off at home. It's very similar to the embroidered hearts and flowers I make at around Christmas time.I think I might turn this butterfly into a needle case.
This is a monthly class, I don't think I can make the March one, but hope to be back there in April.
Practice, practice, practice.
Here's Dolly.

That's pretty. It would make a perfect needlecase. Sounds like a good class to go to regularly too. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful embroidery, Ilona, and a bright pop of colour! It took me right back to the mid sixties and my first year at secondary school when we had to make and embroider a design on a cover for our hymn books. I chose a butterfly in blue, green and pink. It lasted me the 7 years of my school career and, oh dear, I still have it tucked away in a drawer! I can't imagine I'll use it in its present form but perhaps I can repurpose it...maybe a motif on a shopping bag? Another gorgeous day in prospect so must get out for a walk. Vicki
ReplyDeleteHello VickEY,You have given me an idea now.I too have things that I made at school so Im going to have a look whats there and see if any of them can be sewn onto one of my shopping bags.Much better to give them a new lease of life, instead of being packed away in a drawer,xx
DeleteI love butterflies and that is one of my favorite songs. Your butterfly is beautiful so very neat.

ReplyDeleteI think that’s smashing looks really good, bright and cheerful.I used to do a lot of embroidery when I was young, many years ago, though recently I did some chain stitching on a quilt that was going to be used in a toddler group

Nice butterfly. I just finished knitting a few rows on my prayer shawl. Crafts are good in many ways!
ReplyDeleteThat's really pretty. I plan to spend a bit of time learning embroidery stitches while I recover from my hip op in April.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying watching the Great Sewing Bee on tv, which is bizarre as I haven’t ever tried sewing since a disastrous attempt at making a dress when I was at secondary school !
