Walking Group check in. January to July.

My goodness time flies, best get out walking while we still have a bit of summer left. Before you know it we will be into Autumn, and all the leaves will be falling off the trees.

How are you all doing with the walking challenge? How many members of the International Walking Group are still walking? Me for one, I stick my hand up, me me me. My target for the end of July was 584, I have done 596, yipppeeeeee. Off to a good start for August.

Those doing the 1000 miles, are you anywhere near that? Going by your last reports I think some of you are forging ahead, you won't be beaten, good for you. Some walkers will have their own targets, how are you doing, anywhere near them?

I have been doing some morning walks, a friend wanted to join me and that is the best time for them. Usually 9 till 10, then I can get on with whatever else I am doing for the rest of the day. He will be moving away from the area in a few weeks so I will revert to walking at the best time to fit in with my schedule.

Let's have your numbers, this is the place to check in with your progress reports. Thank you for popping in. You can come back to this post at any time if you don't get round to making a comment today. Toodle pip.  ilona

  2. Hi Ilona, except from the last week of july, due to the tropical temperatures here in The Netherlands, I did my daily walks, making a total for July of 103 kilometers. Total score so far: 660 kilometers, aiming for 1000 this year.
Besides walking I did (enjoy tremendously) lots of cycling; 283 kilometers in July.
Wishing you and my fellow walkers a beautiful, happy, healthy and joyful walking month of August!
    Love and blessings,

    Jeanneke.

  5. Hello everyone: July had some very hot and humid days where I live, no walking on those days, so only 69 miles done, for a total of 403 miles for the year to date. Not as many as I had hoped to do but, it's better than none at all. Well done to everyone who is meeting the goals they set out for themselves.

  6. I walked a lot in July, going out early and late in the evening as it was very hot. I walked 93 miles this month so brings my total 694 miles. I am really pleased with this as it helps my back enormously and I drink water too. Keep going everyone, every mile counts. x

    2. Thank you. My doctor recommended I have 3 good glasses of water everyday besides the tea etc I consume for general health of the discs in my spine. With walking it has kept the pain from osteo arthritus in my lower back at a low level and sometimes none at all. A winner for me. xx

  7. I don't know how far I'm walking but it's 1 to 1& half hrs a day.It tires me out as there's a lot of hurrying after the dogs. There are hazelnuts everywhere and squirrels to chase- it's great fun.On returning home all 3 need to go in the bath and I'm then exhausted x

That time again already! Total for July 139 miles, bringing my total for the year to 843. We've been super busy lately and yesterday I did over 20,000 steps - and the only time I left my house was to pop to the shops a couple of blocks away to grab some dish soap! The rest of it was up and down (and up and down, and up and down . . .) the stairs inside, and back and forth shifting things in the garden. I think today I will be lucky to do much more than 6,000 - too pooped.

Been a little bit more active this month, still very cold here in southern Australia, managed to clock up 84 miles bringing me to total of 496. Happy with that, and happy to be moving again !!

  11. 62 miles in July, so 519 all in all. As we had some extremely hot days with the all time weather record of 41°C, I think that´s not bad.

  12. Evening Ilona,
My post disappeared into fresh air as usual. I’ve given up posting on your blog!!
So 81.3 miles for July and a total of 659.7 miles. All on track with some lovely weather helping here in the Midlands.

  13. Good afternoon Ilona,

As usual, I can’t post from my google account to your blog. Here is my update.

July: 65 miles this month for a year to date of 535.
July was beastly hot here in the Arizona desert. Both high temperatures and now humidity. The worst part is the daily low temperatures have been 90 degrees F (33C). Ick! Hope everyone in your walking group had a good month.

    Thanks,
    Hilogene in Az

  16. Hi there Ilona (and fellow-groupies?!!?!!?!)! Not a huge amount of walking over last few weeks; 24.7miles is the total for July. So my cumulative total up to end of July is 181.5 miles.
Onwards and upwards again in August!

  17. July miles was 109 so total to date is 674. Managed to fit a few long walks in. Need to focus on regular daily walks. Keep going.

  18. Dear Ilona.

I can't comment on the walking group post for some reason.
I've tried on three different occasions and have also used google to try to work out why I seem to have been blocked.
It's not just on your site but one or two others as well.
I'm feeling really excluded and Billy no mates!

Our walking total for this year so far is 703 miles. Having visitors has helped and we seem to be on course for 1200 even though we'd pegged ourselves to 1000 this year.
It may be that we do drop to 1000 because I have rheumatoid arthritis but walking really helps me so I’m determined to keep going as long as possible.

I'll keep trying to get back to commenting but at least I now feel I’ve signed in!

Thank you for keeping the group going; it really does provide the encouragement to keep going.

    Sue (Beachcomber)

  21. July was a spot on 100 miles, bringing the total to 521.5. Good start to August, been up on the yorkshire moors and Cleveland way, beautiful country.

  22. Sorry for the late update.
    Goal for July - 1000 steps a day - 31,000 steps
Total steps in July - 73,715
    Days I didn't walk 1000 steps - 4/31
I did really well at the beginning of the month, then we got that same wicked hot weather you all had. And when it began to moderate, I broke a bone in my ankle. (BTW, Ilona, walking improves bone density, which clearly I need to do. First broken bone in my life, and it's painful.)
The beginning of August looks pretty dismal, but I should be more ambulatory soon, then will have physical therapy, which I'm looking forward to. Keep on truckin'! Sedgwick
