TV licence payers money has been wasted. A Christmas tree that was put up outside BBC headquarters in London, has been chopped down not long after it was installed. The BBC should be ashamed of themselves. Health and safety and security reasons have been quoted. Read the story and make up your own mind.

The world's gone mad!!! I have no other printable words.
ReplyDeleteThey could have re positioned it, or given it away to someone else to have pleasure from it. It's a growing tree in a tub. The reason for destroying it is pretty flimsy as well.
DeleteUnbelievable. It's not like they didn't know the election was on! Why put it there only last week if it was going to be a supposed 'security risk'? Words fail me.
ReplyDeleteIt's ridiculous that it was not offered it to a good cause-I'm sure someone would have been very grateful for it- a hospital,a hospice,a charity etc.The BBC could have arranged, taken it and trimmed for them out of kindness in the Christmas spirit x
ReplyDeleteI could not read it because a have a ad-blocker. So I DO NOT KNOW THE STORY. All I know is that the Daily Mail is a right-wing gutter press newspaper who has been running down stories for very long about the BBC. For me the BBC is the voice of reason. The Daily Mail the voice of irrationality and hysteria. They gladly will get rid of the BBC and so no longer will have to 'fund'it. What will be left only commercial TV station like in the USA where you would not here anything with a voice of reason and just the likes of Fox etc.cetc
ReplyDeleteThe story is in several papers, I used the Daily Mail link because the others are so littered with adverts and cookie notices that they are unreadable. I agree it is gutter press. Why was a paedophile allowed to continue to work for the BBC when stories of a certain DJ were being hushed up. They have their own narrative, don't upset anyone who brings in loads of money.
DeleteA long time reader who usually doesn't comment.... You can't believe everything you read in the newspapers! My son works for the BBC in that building and that version of what happened is a long way from the truth. The papers write sensational stories to sell papers because people are gullible enough to believe all they read. The true facts are nothing like they've printed. Also the BBC does contribute heavily to charities, it does happen even if not widely publicised, this year mostly children's and animal charities.
ReplyDeleteJanice M.
So what is the true story, pray tell.
DeleteNo adverts on the BBC website which also reports this story.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Whatever version you want to believe, it was chopped down.
DeleteIt's not about which 'version', (that would be a whole different discussion), it is about saying you chose to link to the Daily Mail site, even though you say it is the gutter press, because it doesn't have adverts.
