Check in time for the Walking Group.

Good morning, it's sunny outside, and it's the first day of October. Whoooopeeeee, a new month. We all know what that means, it's check in day for the International Walking Group members. Time flies, we are into Autumn already.

So how have you all been doing? I look forward to reading your reports. Are you on target, or are you struggling to get motivated? It's a long time since we all made the commitment on January the first. Have we managed to stick with it and follow through, or have we got lost along the way? I want to know your story.

My target was 1000 miles by the end of December, you may have a different target. I am pleased that I have reached 788 miles, which is more than the 750 mile target for nine months.

I think sometimes that I could ease off a bit, but I tend to set aside time each day to go out for a walk, so if I didn't do it I would miss it. Now it is part of my day. I go at different times to do my local walks, and then I like to have a few days of going a bit further afield to explore pastures new, weather permitting.

You can't beat a dose of nature.

Thanks for your comments. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.  ilona

  1. Hi Ilona and fellow walkers! 143 kilometres for me in September and crossed the 1000-line one week ago, today on a total of 1046.
Still happy and healthy, so very blessed I feel.
Stay safe, stay healthy, keep walking, Ilona. And right the same to all walkers out there!
    Cheers,

    Jeanneke.

  2. Morning Ilona, I'm up to 968 miles this month! Really happy with this, a week in the Peak District certainly helped. Just have to make sure I stay motivated now the weather has taken a turn. Take care Viv x

    1. Lucky you being in the Peak District, some lovely scenery there. I bet that worked your leg muscles a little bit harder. Thank you for checking in.

    2. A disappointing 60 miles for September, a total of 600 for the year, some is better than none.
It is cooling down now, so hoping to get in some more walking, cannot do a lot in the hot weather, of which we have had a lot of this Summer.

  3. I'm at 1,284. I thought I'd do a bit more this month, but wildfire smoke followed by a tweaked back made walking a bit difficult.

    1. Hello Sheila. The smoke thing sounds very dangerous. Watch that back, no doing anything silly like humping furniture about :o) Your numbers are fantastic.

  4. Hi fellow-walkers! Unf for me Sept has been a really sad time because I had to take the last of my 3cats, Hector, to the vets to be put to sleep. Hector's sudden illness has left me struggling to adjust to a living environment without pets. It is only this week that I have forced myself to go out walking, a few miles on a few days. So I am striking the Sept total with a bit fat zero. But new month, fresh start, so I will be out&about as much as I can over next few weeks. Keep going everyone, you're all doing brilliantly! 1. So sorry to hear that Gillian. It takes time to adjust after losing a pet. Start again when you are ready. Best wishes.

  5. Hello Ilona and fellow walkers, reporting in on the 1st of the month again. Can we really be three quarters of the way through the year again? I have walked just under 114 miles in September, making the total to date over 923 miles. I had originally decided to aim for 1000 but now am wondering if I should try to beat my 2019 total of 1110. The weather may be the deciding factor especially if it continues as is predicted for the weekend! Good luck to all with your own goals....and the weather! Vicki

  8. Hi Ilona, I am only managing about 65 miles each month at the moment so am way behind my tally. Oh well. At least I am getting some walking done and next year my leg might just be strong enough to get back to normal.

    1. As long as you do a bit, that's the main thing. Thanks for checking in.

  9. Good afternoon/evening,
I hadn’t realized it was time again ;) Here in the sunny desert, the daytime temps are still over 100, but finally the overnight lows are below 80! Yeah! Lots of walkers out now! My torn meniscus in my knee continues to heal and I am almost doing 1 mile a day now (not quite my 2-3 miles pre injury) but I am happy I can get out and walk even a little bit.
    Miles for September were: 18.7.
Ilona, thanks again for this group and your wonderful photos! Hello to the group, let’s hope fall/winter in the northern hemisphere , and spring/summer in the Southern Hemisphere bring good things!

  10. Beautiful photos! I've walked 114 miles in September (842 in total). I was aiming for 1200 for the year so I am behind. Will have to do 120 a month to catch up and the weather will be against me. I'll keep going.

  11. Much more active month for me, 140 miles done totalling 825 miles. Wonder how many I will end up with this year? Joy Central Vic Australia
