Saturday again, and it's raining, so it will be a staying indoors kind of day. I have not done a late Aldi shop since Friday the 18th of September, and I don't need to go just yet, because Billy dogs mum has given me some fruit and vegetables. That will see me through the next few days, along with eating out of the freezer, and cupboard. I have some packets and tins to fall back on. I am not stockpiling anything.
I set up a zooooomie thing on the computer because someone wanted to have a meeting with me. We had already had a telephone conversation, and now the researcher for ITV Productions, wanted to talk face to face, so to speak. Everything is virtual these days. A time and day was arranged, I waited, and waited, and she never showed. She might have had a good reason, but could have let me know.
I find the concept of being stood up in the virtual world, very baffling. It's not like standing on a street corner and waiting for someone to show, or going to a meeting in a cafe or hotel lobby, hanging around in case the person is late, then giving up and going home. Sitting looking at a screen and thinking where are you, I am here waiting, is very odd. One hour later and the screen is still blank.Mayze cat is snoring away on the chair next to me. Oscar cat is outside. He has been in for breakfast but will no doubt want to come back in for a second sitting, and might even stay a while.
That's just blimmin rude isn't it. On a different subject.. Do you like pickles? It's really easy to pickle fruit and veggies in nothing more than salty water. After a few days the brine turns vinegary and the veggies taste nicely vinegary too. Worth doing even on a small scale to preserve gluts of cheap veg and fruit. Tony and I discovered that we love sauerkraut when tried my hand at making batch a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI do like pickles, but I have an aversion to kitchens, ha ha. I try not to accumulate gluts of anything, prefer to eat the same thing several days running to use it up, or I might freeze something. Thanks for your suggestion.
DeleteIt’s one of my pet hates, Ilona, when some people believe that their time is more precious than someone else’s. I think that researcher was very rude to waste your time. I’m very keen on punctuality, and really, in these days of advanced telecommunications, there is no excuse not to let someone know if you are going to be delayed. And.....rant over!! Loving the creativity of the wavy blue lines wool and trivet recycle project. Hope you have a productive and happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that my timekeeping is not always perfect, but I do make an effort if I think my lateness might inconvenience someone. I text ahead if I am delayed.
DeleteIt isnt nice to be left hanging about without even a telephone call to explain why.I hope they get in touch with you later to explain what has happened.Well, its a rainy day here in Leicester as well.Dark n dismal.I will still go to my Mams this afternoon to make sure that all is well there then when I get back I will have a few of much looked forward to Guinness!!.Im loving your new work and I can see little felt ships, bobbing up and down on those waves with may be a little light house up in the corner!.I do wish that I had your talent and imagination!xx
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, Debi. I don't care if she doesn't get back to me. As far as I'm concerned main stream media is dying on it's feet. There are many more alternatives out there. Anyone can film events, anyone can make their own videos. Admitted that audience numbers will be very low in the beginning, but there is plenty of opportunity of starting small and growing. Some yoootooobers are amassing tens of thousands of followers, some are nudging millions.
DeleteHow frustrating hanging around for someone to call. Look forward to seeing how you progress on your crafty piece. Definitely a day to stay indoors and do something arty/crafty.
ReplyDeleteNo excuse for rudeness. Even if she was unable to contact you herself, someone should have done so. Loving the look of your trivet art. Interested to see how it develops. Definitely a day for snuggling up at home and losing yourself in some craft work. xx
ReplyDeleteBright coloured boats bobbing on your waves maybe? Whatever you do, don't go to Aldi. I've just got back, thinking the weather might put people off...no chance it was hideously busy!
ReplyDeleteAn Aldi visit will happen later this week.
DeleteI have troubles getting with all of the "on line" stuff and just use my computer keeping in touch with children and family who are far away & reading good blogs (like yours). I am 76 so hope I can make it in a world that is totally controlled by internet, etc. Someone will have to look after me!! I enjoy your crafts. This new piece reminds me of a music staff. I am a piano player, and that is what it looks like, but I love the ocean also. You are very creative & talented. Thanks for sharing your life. Mary Ann
ReplyDeletePeople who stand me up never get a second chance... unless the standing-up was due to something dire & serious. VERY serious! I take it as a bad sign of future things to come & tell the person to be on their way. ~Andrea
ReplyDeleteI like that wavy trivet and am interested to see how it will turn out.
ReplyDeleteI hate being stood up without any kind of explanation as to why.
How rude. Didn’t something similar happen a couple of years ago with a promised phone call from a tv person or such like which never transpired. Flippin’ time wasters.
