At last this is finished. I lost interest in it half way through, put it down, put it away. Then I thought I would have another go. And this is what I have come up with.
It's got a gold frame, second hand someone was throwing it out. The black background is a piece of fabric I got from Hull Scrapstore. I have stretched it over the original picture which was in the frame, and laced it at the back. I took the photographs before I put the glass in. The stars are small paper clips, which push through and fasten at the back. I painted them with white pearly nail varnish. It is all hand stitched.
I wasn't sure about the frame at first, but it's growing on me. Now ready to move on to the next project.
Billy and me liked our walkies this afternoon. It was sunny and warm. Nice to chat to some village friends.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip. ilona
Very nice. Viv

DeleteWow! That looks great! You are so creative!
ReplyDeleteI try.
DeleteI love this work of yours. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt looks lovely, just how I imagined it to look!.I really hope that you sign n date it..I just feel as though it is A Sign of the Times.I love the stars as well. Most of my old nail varnish has been used up now,so tomorrow I will have a look through my garage and see what I can recycle.Im sure that there will be something!xx
ReplyDeleteMy name is on the front, forgot the date. I will write that on the back. Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteThat's a very striking piece of art. Reminds me of a colourful earth in space.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is what it was saying to me. A bright interlude in all the blackness.
DeleteThat looks lovely, such a bright and vibrant reminder of what the world can be out of this lockdown time. Your description of the process reminded me of a quote I have on my wall in the downstairs toilet (a great place to sit and read positive quotes) it’s by the artist banksy, “if you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit” it’s helped me get to the end of projects too. It’s so tempting to throw art projects out out of frustration but now I put them in a bag and leave it for another day. Another good one is from aa but refers to any frustrating situation or feelings of quitting and that is “this too shall pass”.
ReplyDeleteCreativity comes in waves. If it's not there best to get on with something else. I can go for a walk to unblock my thoughts.
DeleteThere are lots of reflections in the video, but the still pictures (without the glass) look great. I love it. You are very creative. I especially like the stitching in the various colors. Thank you for finishing it and showing it.
ReplyDeleteSome pictures need glass, always a difficult choice.
DeleteI love your picture. The black background really sets it off. It makes me think of space. Have you seen any photos of black holes and exploding stars? Absolutely fascinating and so colourful. I wonder how difficult they would be to recreate using nail varnish.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the space walks from the International Space Station. It's fascinating to see them step out into complete blackness.
DeleteGreat work Ilona, one of your best if I might say so! The picture you lost interest in and put away!
ReplyDeleteI have a few more I could dig out and re start.
DeleteI think it is just beautiful! I like your style!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mandy. My style is colour.
Deleteit's perfect, I like it very much :)
ReplyDeleteI can see a few flaws, but I won't mention them.
DeleteThat is beautiful, looks so good up on your wall.Louise
ReplyDeleteIt goes well with the soft lighting. Like looking through a window into the dark sky.
DeleteWhat a fun project, so bright and colorful.
ReplyDeleteIt dragged on a bit, but I'm pleased at how it turned out.
DeleteThis is fabulous. Your best yet! I have never commented on here before but this one made me!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you and welcome. Please join in.
DeleteI love the NEW WORLD IIona and the gold frame really sets it of. It has lots of stitching on it and so neatly done.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the next piece of your work.

It was lucky I had that frame. The gold is perfect for it.
DeleteThe New World piece is stunning, I love it, and what a brilliant idea to paint those cards with nail polish. I'd be tempted to put a couple of the orange/red version ones into the black frame alongside the bottles. I've lost my crafting mojo with all the craft fairs being closed but this post and video has inspired me so thank you Ilona 😊
ReplyDeleteI don't normally do craft fairs, but I have a stash of finished work now so I might book a table when they start opening again.
DeleteSuch patience! I have started doing some hand stitching as well.....and surprisingly I am finding it quite therapeutic!
ReplyDeleteIf you have half an hour to spare it is very relaxing to add a few more stitches and watch it grow.
DeleteI think it is brilliant - both the stitched outcome and the idea of a New World. Isn't retirement wonderful!?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Ilona and i also love the gold frame and the stars on the black background it sets it off perfectly. XX
ReplyDeletewell done, so beautiful<3
ReplyDeleteQuite lovely. Stars add a lot.
ReplyDeleteWell done you! That's beautiful and so colourful xx
ReplyDeleteReally lovely. The addition of the 'stars' was inspired.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant.
ReplyDeleteIt is very eyecatching and the stars add depth to it.
