No hope.

Good morning. In the news this morning. . . . . . from the Guardian. I don't like the Guardian very much, same as I don't like The Sun or The Mirror, or any of them for that matter. I click on news items which might interest me wherever they might appear and whoever might have written them. All to be taken with a pinch of salt.
The headline, 'Catastrophic' : Sierra Leone sells Rain Forest for Chinese fish plant. A £39 million deal struck by the Government of Sierra Leone with China to build an industrial fishing harbour on 250 acres of beach and protected rainforest has been criticized as a catastrophic human and ecological disaster, by conservationists, land owners, and rights groups. I do despair. Once again it's about money. The richest are the enemy, they will not be happy until all the little people have been obliterated. Read the article here.
That article fits in very nicely with a documentary film I watched the other day. Thank you to the reader who sent me the link. I was not going to put this here, (there is a link in the Research page), but I have changed my mind after seeing that news article this morning.
This has to be the most depressing, heart breaking film I have ever seen. It needs to be shown world wide. Each and every one of us has to make changes or the world will not survive. The video was made a year ago, it was posted on yoootooob and was taken down hours later. The reason was that it contained four seconds of copyright material, which has been removed. That was an excuse of course. It has since been reinstated.
Please be aware that there is some very upsetting footage towards the end of the video. This has really affected me.
I will leave you to digest that if you are interested. If it is not your cup of tea, pop back at a later date when the subject matter will have changed.
Thank you for popping in. We'll catch up later. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Your words..This has really affected me..has made me wary of watching it.I watched the first few seconds. Then for some reason switched it off.I too get affected by some things that will be at the back of my mind all day and be on my mind at 3 am.Things that I have no control over because of other peoples behavior.Even the film Planet of the Apes, the one where the statue of Liberty was buried in the sand, has played on my mind since I watched it as a teenager. Not every day,but at sometime during the week that scene will play out in my head.My Dad used to say, maybe 40 years ago...The end of the world is coming. So I am presuming that this film is along them lines? xx

    1. Debi, do what your instincts tell you to do. The video is about how the billionaires are wrecking this planet. The blame filters down to the little person who is trying to do the right thing. Some people will not want to know about it, that's fine. Your first priority is to protect yourself. The end of the world is a long way off.

    3. Thank you for getting back to us Debi. The rich people are a different breed, they have no heart, and no conscience. They think they can use their money to change things for the better. They can't, their wickedness takes us down the road to destruction.

    4. I too watched this documentary and I see now that the Indian lady who speaks so well about the biomass issue is an environmentalist and is also in the documentary entitled: Seed: the untold story. I found it for free online so Im going to watch it this evening. If you search for it, don't make the initial mistake I made though of just typing in 'seed movie' as it came up with a horror movie and it wasn't until a couple of minutes in that I thought, this is oddly disturbing for a documentary about seeds..... my teenage son was just sighing at my ineptitude at this computer lark :-)

  2. I had no idea just how bad it would get. I only watched a few seconds of the part you are obviously referring to before turning if off. Debi was right not to watch it. I wish I hadn't watched it. How could they do that? Why should people like us suffer such emotional trauma for their evil actions. What is WRONG with them? Perhaps if all the people marching for 'green energy' saw this, they might think again.

    2. You're right. They see everything and everyone (including humans) as commodities to be exploited. I have no doubt that they would use humans in the same way as those poor horses if they could get away with it.

  3. I watched the entire film.....sad but so informative. My husband is 78 and I'm a hop skip and jump behind him. For the past 45 years we've lived on acreage in southern California. It had a pop. of 1,400 people all on parcels of 2 to 5 acres. It was low cost then but now is a city with astronomical prices for houses on 50 x 100 foot lots. All this to say, we have planted hundreds of trees, have a well and use it for a garden and fruit orchard. We raise chickens. Grow eucalyptus trees to cut and then burn in our wood stove. We hang laundry on a close line and wear extra layers of clothing in the winter. We've always driven economy cars. Far from perfect but we have tried to care for our land and use as little energy as possible. Really, many people over the years have laughed and thought us backwards. We are at that age of down sizing. It's too hard to weed and maintain all this land.....besides stopping druggies and homeless from coming on to our property. We will join the people on those 50 x 100 ft. lots but will hang our laundry on a line, have desert landscaping in the front yard, and use the back to grow veggies and fruit. Your lifestyle of using as little energy for heating, recycling materials for crafting, clothing, etc. is a good way to try and slow down polluting. Honestly, I don't think the majority of people want to make that extra effort or inconvenience to save energy. Call me cynical but I think most people want and trust the government to take care of them with 'green energy'. Since we've taken responsibility for conserving energy for so many years, we don't trust government or anyone else to do that for us. We've seen how developers have used and abused the land around us. Sorry to make this so long. Patty McDonald

    1. Thank you for your thoughts. We have to start going backwards, but sadly as you say, people don't want to make the extra effort or put up with the inconvenience. Eventually choices will be taken away from us when we are forced to cut back. Then we will say, I wish we had listened.

  4. I watched this with my son yesterday and today a bit and it was highly informative, shocking in parts too but to hide away from this documentary is to ignore reality I believe. I do understand that some people might find this too upsetting to watch in places and one must choose the right time and place to view this but a documentary is supposed to open the watchers eyes to real events in the world. It has definitely made me think about my own life and the systems we live around and in daily. The role of big business and government/subsidies and the fake economies they create for the profit of a few was an eyeopener for me and Richard branson laughing in a very disturbing way at one point stuck with me. I like the quote at the end by rachel carson "humankind is challenged, as it has never been before to prove its maturity and its mastery, not of nature, but of itself'.

    1. Very rich people, in my opinion, have no heart. All they see is money, to make more, and more is never enough. Yes, there are a lot of crooks at the top of the pile.

  5. Small businesses are on their knees in the UK and that's where China wants them - look how much of our infrastructure is Chinese owned. It really worries me. One day they will pull the plug literally on our power. If I could go off-grid tomorrow I would, but I'm working on it. Have you seen the latest veiled threat by Biden? "After a year of hard work and so much sacrifice, the rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do." I'm waiting to be banned by Twitter after my reply to him!!

    1. I saw that video clip of Biden, and wondered if it was fake. It didn't look like him. China must be laughing all the way to the bank. They produce the testing kits, and look how the Government are pushing them out.

  6. Ilona. The writer of the hate filled piece in the Daily Mail is Sarah Vine. She is married to Michael Gove and I imagine that the article has been written by the nudge team.

    1. It's called divide and rule. They do it all the time. Race against race, old and young against each other, rich and poor against each other and on it goes. The Germans were told that all their problems were down to the Jews. It never fails and people fall for it every time. The one thing they don't want is for everyone to stand together.

    3. I deliberately picked that article out for the Research page. It was sent to me by a very critical/nasty reader, who added a whole load of abuse to the comment, directed at me. Deleted of course.

    1. It's the woke brigade ganging up.
Refusenik’ is the latest catchphrase used to disparage anyone unwilling — for whatever reason — to roll up their sleeve for a Covid shot. Few are aware, however, that the word ‘refusenik’ could hardly be less fitting.
To use this term as a brush with which to tar large groups of people is not only to misunderstand its original meaning, but to forget a chapter of history which continues to carry profound emotional resonance for the hundreds of thousands who were persecuted at the hands of the Soviet regime.

    2. I know where it comes from. Fortunately so do many others and they are spreading the word on the comments page of the MSM. The words used, such as this, are put out by the MSM and picked up on by the easily led crowd.

  8. Hi Ilona, this is a great film and thank you for making it available on your blog. Although many scenes are distressing, that's exactly why we should watch it. It explodes the myth of "green energy"; solar and wind farms don't address the real problem, which is that there are too many people on the planet.
