Good morning on this chilly, damp, and overcast first day of September. The International Walking Group members are invited to send in their mileages. Let us know how you did in August, and where your totals stand now.
The target for eight months was 666, for those of you who are going full pelt to do the 1000. Those who have created their own targets let us know how you are doing. I am on 692 miles, so I have a bit in reserve should I wish to ease off when the bad weather starts.
Now is the time to keep going , no slacking, watch those number rise. I like to have my numbers in front of me on a desk calendar so I can monitor it daily. That's not being obsessive, that's being organised. My walks vary between 2 miles and 8 miles, sometimes more, depending on how much time I have allocated to it, the weather, and what else I need to be doing. It also depends on what I feel like doing. Sometimes I can't wait to get out there, and make a snap decision. Go now. I can be flexible and fit it in morning, afternoon, or night.
You are all doing a great job, remember you are not doing it for me, you are doing it to maintain your own good health. You will reap the benefits if you stick with it.
Pics from the archive. Happy meals.
You are what you eat. Comments open now. Let's hear from you.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
Good morning Ilona and fellow walkers! My total this month is a paltry 28.5m...in my defense I have had a hospital stay and surgery and although home now am still confined to barracks.
ReplyDeleteHello Sansthing. At least you did some miles and didn't give up completely. I hope you feel better soon.

Hello.
Delete864 kilometers now, that means 536 miles! I think if the weather is not too bad in November and December, I might reach 1000 miles, not only kilometers. Thank you so much for your kind encouragement and your good example.
ReplyDeleteHello Hilde. You are doing amazingly well. The Sky's the limit.
DeleteHi Ilona. Just tallied up my mileage 576 plus August of 90 is 666. On target which is amazing. It’s so enjoyable getting out and walking…walks vary from 2 to 8 miles a day but it all helps with fitness. Love your happy meal photos! Best wishes to all.
ReplyDeleteHello Irene. You've got into a good routine there. You will have no problem smashing the 1000.
DeleteLove the cauliflower beard. I walked 108 miles in August for a total of 958 miles. While I'm not going to meet my original goal of surpassing last year's total, I'm doing okay. Another visit to the foot doctor this week.
ReplyDeleteSheila in Idaho
Hello Sheila. There's no stopping you. Fantastic miles. Look after your feet.
DeleteLove the happy food pics Ilona! Did 149 miles in August so at 1129 for the year so far. Still plugging along with my goal of 1500 miles for the year. I have to agree that the walking is so good for both mental and physical health! I can tell when I haven't been out as much over the previous few days as I normally would and feel so much better when I do. Have a lovely day eveyone.
ReplyDeleteHello Allison. You have discovered the secret of a fit and healthy life. Plenty of walking.
DeleteGood morning. I love the happy food photos! August was a good walking month for me. 130 miles which brings my yearly total to 778. A day without a walk just doesn't seem complete. I hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHello Kay. I know what you mean about something missing. I have been busy today, it got to 9pm and I had to go out for a walk. Great miles.
DeleteHi Ilona, August added another 41 and my estimate for the year is 485. I didn’t measure in two months so this is a best guess. Walking miles will improve now that the worst of the summer is behind us here in the Arizona desert!
ReplyDeleteHello Hilly. I can't imagine walking very far in a desert. Take plenty of water with you.
DeleteHi Ilona and fellow walkers. Walked just over 112.5 miles in August making a total to date of 876, highest at this point in the 6 years I have been doing this challenge. Have continued to save 50p per mile so now have a nice little fund to spend with the family later in the year. Over the last few weeks have added 20 mins per day on my exercise bike to the routine ...but will I be able to continue long term?? Good luck in achieving your targets everyone! Vicki
ReplyDeleteHello Vicki. Oh wow. You are an old hand at this now. It's a doddle for you. And a nice treat for you at the end of it. That's a great incentive to carry on.
DeleteHi Ilona,
