Walkers check in 1st March

Good morning. Today is the day. . . . . when the International Walking Group are invited to check in with their mileage. Two months into the year and the target was 168 miles, if you are going for the full 1000. I made it to 174, phew, that was close.

The next target to aim for is 252, so we have 31 days to achieve that. Let's go for it. Now it's up to you to give it your best shot. Let us know where you are now in a comment.

A few random pictures from the archives.

Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Well done to you. I'm short on the target so currently with a good start in January, this month I haven't met the target. Mainly because I don't like going out in 45 degree wind and rain. So I am at 137 so far. I really need to get moving in March whatever the weather.

    1. Hello Karen. 137 is a good number. I don't like going out in the rain either. Move More in March. Good idea.

  2. My cell phone keeps track of my steps but I am not aiming for 1,000 miles. Too many for me, I am walking about 700 miles a year. You look good and enthusiastic in your photos, love the motorcycle and the last photo of you and a mystery man.

    1. Hello Terra. Best foot forward. The mystery man is William Hardy. He came to my house when filming for Shed of the Year. He is drop dead gorgeous.

  3. I am shooting for 700 miles. I am behind right now. This month total is 45.74. So that gives me a total of 83.34 miles. I am hoping with spring coming i can get out more and makeup the difference.

  6. My knee has been hurting a lot, so I just managed 101 miles. Today I have an appointment with the orthopedist, I hope he can help me. And I will try to do several shorter walks every day which will add up too.
These are great pictures of you with various vehicles, and with the mystery man!

    1. Hello Hilde. You are doing remarkably well considering you have a dodgy knee. The mystery man is the gorgeous William Hardy.

  7. Nice thing about being "retired" is that I can walk anytime, to get around the weather. Even in England, it was rare for it to be bad all day long. Here in Victoria, Australia, the weather is better overall. Most days, I'm still walking before breakfast with my daughter, and getting in the miles that way. Occasionally I walk on my own. So far, so good...

    1. Hello KH. Retirement is certainly enjoyable because we can pick our own timetable. Keep it up.

  8. Hello Ilona, alas I have not been able to do any walking to write home about in February, due to my old left leg troubles still playing up.
Have done some cycling, which I very much enjoyed! I need it to be outside, moving, get out of my home and always coming back refreshed in every sense.
Looking forward to another appointment at the orthopedist on March 22nd. Hope he can offer new treatment or at least some relief of the nasty mostly nightly pains.
    Cheers,

    Jeanneke.

    1. Hello Jeanneke. I have a friend who always cycles, very rarely walks. She looks fit and healthy, so it is a good form of exercise.

  9. Hello! These photos are great! I started tracking 3 weeks ago and have walked about 23 miles. (I'm not counting regular daily activity, just real walks) March will be higher! It's getting a little nicer outside every week. - Christina from Indiana

  11. My total for February is 108 miles and 191 for the year. Only two days of not walking because of bone chilling temperatures so I call that a win.

  12. The weather was frightful for February, so I was able to log only 62 miles. Fortunately, temps are going to be much nicer (with no anticipated snow or ice) in March so I hope to bump mileage up a lot.
    Love those photos you shared.

  13. Hi Ilona, I had a 58 miles this month, so with last month's 74 I'm at 132 to date. I'll try and up my game this month!

    1. Hello Ger. Your miles are building up nicely. A gradual increase over the rest of the year will see you easily reach the finishing line.

  14. I did only 37. We still cannot walk outside as there is snow everywhere and it cannot be moved as there is no place to put it. I had to improvise. You all did great.

    1. Hello FUTPS. Snow makes it very difficult to do any activities outdoors, except for perhaps winter sports. Maybe clear a space in the garden and do a few aerobic sessions. Or maybe not, ha ha.

  15. 132 miles in February for me, so total is now 278. Short month (plus a couple of cold snaps when I couldn't bring myself to go out!) so a little less than usual, but ok.

Arizona is beautiful right now so I try for a few short walks a few times a day. I will be aiming for 2.5 miles a day this month. Glad to read through all the walking updates :)
