Twas a strange thing I saw in Aldi the other day. A man wearing a backpack with a bird inside. You don't see that very often, in fact I have never seen one in my life before. I asked permission to photograph it. Please excuse my reflection. It was like a plastic bubble with airholes so the bird could breath. It had a perch fixed inside, but the bird was not sitting on it, A piece of toweling on the bottom was more appealing to it. It may have fallen off the perch, I don't know.
The man told me that his little friend has separation anxiety, and he bought the carrier so he could take it with him when circumstances allowed. I wonder what the bird thinks of it's tour around Aldi then. I asked it but all it said was, 'who's a pretty boy then'. Today's plan? Not really sure yet. It rained overnight, now blue skies are beginning to appear. Maybe I should take a chance and go out. Need some shopping.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip. ilona
I think it looks cruel. I'm amazed someone would be happy walking around with that on their back.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' parrot sketch. It's "pining for the fjords".
ReplyDeleteSandy.
After having to stay at home as much over the last couple of years, I'm not surprised that pets get anxious when their owners have to leave them on their own. Good for him on finding a way to help his parrot.
ReplyDeleteBirds can be sensitive just like any other animal.
DeleteFancy that! I haven't seen anything like that before. I suppose it gets to see a lot more than sitting in a cage at home 😃 Karen
ReplyDeleteI think it's a lovely idea. At least it's not trapped in a cage at home pulling it's feathers out.
DeleteWow, never seen one of those before, fabulous. There is a lady i see in the park with a dog that was born with a disability and she has a pram to put her dog in until she gets to the park and can let her out for the loo. So many things around that can assist nowadays ☺ clayre
ReplyDeleteI gooooglied these carriers. They are quite expensive, and lots of different designs, so they must be popular.
DeleteI don't really like to see something like this, I mean is separation anxiety in birds really a thing? No food or water in there either?
ReplyDeleteHe may not have come very far. There are blocks of flats nearby. He had a few items in a basket.
DeleteI think it’s a fantastic idea! Birds have feelings just like other animals and I would think his owner would know him best. And yes he is a pretty boy. 😊😊
ReplyDeleteYes, I quite agree. Just because they are not soft and fluffy doesn't mean that they don't need company.
DeleteI've never heard of this either but had a google and sure enough there are loads of different ones available. Great idea for when you have to transport your pet, whether they are anxious or even just to take them for veterinary care.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to find so many different versions of carriers. It's a good idea. The bird is safe and secure, and has plenty of mental stimulation to look at.
