Good morning. It's bright and sunny again and the garden is looking good. Still watering pots, could do with a spot of rain now.
It's the first of the month, so let's get going with the Walkers Check In post. How have you all been doing? The target for eight months is 666, did you make it? I scraped in again with 678 miles. I had six no walk days.
The body seems to be holding up, luckily no dodgy knees or hips. It's unlikely that I will ever need a hip or knee replacement. Being out in the fresh air of the great outdoors is a life saver for me. Whatever worries I have in my head evaporate into mist and float away. Walking is all the medicine I need.
Now it's your turn, let's hear it from the walkers. Check in with your mileage. Are you on track with your own personal targets?
A random photo from the archives. Knaresborough in Yorkshire. I haven't been there for a while.
Now I will get some breakfast. I fancy a cook up this morning, mushrooms and eggs. Catch ya later. ilona
Love that view and loved going to Knaresborough as a teen when we lived in West RIding of Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteHello Mona. Yorkshire is my favourite county.
DeleteI remember going to Ilkley or nearby and spending time by the river and it was lovely. Yorkshire brings back many happy memories although our time there was but 3 or 4 years then back to Barrow-in-Furness.
DeleteI am on 769 miles so far after 8 months - Jill
ReplyDeleteHello Jill. Wow, you are leaping ahead. That's fantastic.
Delete689 miles so far , I am doing better than I expected.
ReplyDeleteHello Hilde. Smashing. You are well on the way to the 1000.
DeleteYesterday was 105f/41c, our 23rd day over 100f, with more to come. Ick. We won't see cooler weather for a week. I managed 147 miles in August (we were in Canada for the first three weeks, where it was cooler), one no walk day, for a total of 1,083.
ReplyDeleteSheila in Idaho
Hello Sheila. Sticky weather you have there. You are leaving us all behind. Well done.
Delete75 miles this month, 594 in total. I'm getting further behind.
ReplyDeleteHello Nick. Do not despair. As long as you don't give up altogether, there is still hope. I have every faith in you getting to the finishing point. Remember the song, Don't stop me now.
DeleteHa ha I love that song! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will endeavour.
Delete170 klms for me this month, bringing me to a total of 1375 klms so far. Will be interesting to see how many I am able to complete this year in comparison to previous couple of years. I love this walking "challenge" it keeps me motivated to keep going and improve both physical and mental health, and boy don't we need it after a woeful couple of years. Thanks so much Ilona, and all the other walkers, I love hearing how you are all going. Joy, Central Victoria, Australia
ReplyDeleteHello Joy. I am pleased that you are feeling the benefits of regular walking. Keep a positive mindset and things will always get better.
DeleteWell done on your excellent mileage. I have done badly this past month, the heat levels have been too much for me so I am only on 535 after only managing a dismal 58 miles in August! However I really love autumn walking so I expect my mileage to increase in the next few months and I should make the total back up. Cheers, Karen
ReplyDeleteHello Karen. Swings and roundabouts. Maintaining a comfortable routine is the key to success. Don't say ONLY 535, that's a heck of a mileage. A thousand times better than those who don't do any exercise.
Delete81 miles this month, for a total so far of 622. So close to the 8 month target, yet so far away...:)
ReplyDeleteHello Leslie. Stick with it, you are doing just fine. Four months to catch up. Enjoy your walking.
DeleteHi Ilona, sorry I am late! Just caught up with the date ;). I walked only 5 miles last month, my dog had vertigo and it was hot, so we stayed in. Year to date miles: 362.
ReplyDeleteBut all is well now so we are walking again.
Thank you, Hilogene in Az
