A few pics of inside Lincoln Cathedral. It sure is beautiful.
The sun shining through the windows projects the colours onto the pillars.
I have more pictures of my visit to Lincoln. Come back again to see them. Here is the web site for the Cathedral.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
My husband and I watched the video, we were just in awe. What a massive and beautiful place. I think I could spend all day in there taking it all in. Just amazing to read about time period it all began. Thanks for taking us along mother!!
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot longer inside than I intended to. It was blooming freezing cold though. I warmed up in the cafe with a hot coffee and cake.
DeleteThat is a glorious building, and I like how you captured the stained glass design reflected on the pillars. I would love to attend worship there.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are always drawn towards colours.
DeleteThose stained glass windows and their reflections are just beautiful! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteThere's something about being in a tall building that encourages you to look up.
DeleteWhat a beautiful building! And to think it was planned without computers and built without all the modern machines, it is just incredible. Of course it took a long, long time, but our modern projects usually take more time than planned, too. And often they are so ugly that one is glad when they have to be torn down after some years. We have a nice example of the in the nearest town. About 35 years ago, the then 80 years old town hall got a big annexe. This annexe irs to be torn down soon becaus of poor quality of the building materials and of the work, but the original building is going to stay!

Hello Hilde, nice to hear from you.
DeleteI love your photo of the window light on the columns! And I'm pleased to see in your welcome paragraph that you are shifting to a new definition of self-reliance and freedom that is interesting to me. I have been following several blogs that say we are responsible for our own welfare in this strange new world, and that we can free ourselves of others' expectations and judgements. Oddly, a bushcrafter's blog, Age of the North, has helped me. If you look him up, look for his definition of freedom, in a short post from a few years ago. My best regards, Kate
ReplyDeleteHello Kate. It's easy enough to say look after yourself, but not so easy to carry it out when you are lacking in self worth. Being at peace with yourself only comes when you take responsibility for yourself. Some people do have the responsibility of looking after someone else, but there has to be a balance. A support network can be useful in those circumstances.
DeleteHello Gilli. I am wanting to become more flexible with my time, and not be tied to the computer. Check in was becoming more like a job. You can still keep us updated with your progress and I am still here to cheer you on. 88 miles in a month is spot on. I hope the rest of the challenge goes according to plan for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing back the memories of visiting the cathedral. It truly is magnificent. It's had quite a challenging history, what with the fire, and the Earthquake and the Central Tower collapsing. Not to mention the Battle of Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteI sat and watched a brief film about the history of it. It has had a lot of changes throughout it's life. It is quite amazing that it is still standing.
