I bought these trainers brand new quite a lot of years ago. I needed a lightweight pair that I could carry in my rucksack when I did my first long walk. They were cheap. After that first walk I decided that I did not need to take them with me again, because once I got into my room at a B & B and took my boots off, I didn't feel like walking any further. As you can see I have worn them quite a lot anyway, they have had a lot of use. I painted them to cover up the scuffs. Now the paint is scuffed. Shall I paint them again? I might do. The plan is to throw them out, but if I can tart them up a bit I might still get some more use out of them.
Yesterday I treated myself to a new pair of trainers. Don't they look smart. I would have preferred to buy some from a charity shop, because they would already be broken in by someone else. But it takes a lot of time searching for the right pair if you do it that way. So I coughed up £39 for these at Go Outdoors. The bunion on my left foot is giving me a bit of agro, so I have bought a size bigger than I would normally take, then I can experiment with different combinations of socks.
As I was browsing the middle aisle at Aldi I noticed these. They call them canvas trainers, but I think they are more like the old fashioned pumps that we used to wear at school. At £6 I thought I would give them a try. They make me laugh, they are like the oversized boots that clowns wear. Once again a size bigger. I'll will do an update after I have worn them for a while. I have got a cat sitting job for next week. It's local so I can go and check on, and feed the cats, two or three times a day. They are indoor cats so that will be easy enough. I've been this morning to pick up the key and get my instructions.
Now I am going to do a Billy walk. It's mothers day tomorrow and Carol will be going out. It is more convenient for her that I go today. She is having her hair done later, to look nice on the big day.
Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your weekend. Toodle pip. ilona
I like your new shoes. My feet have gone flat so it costs $150.00 for a pair of shoes that I can walk in for more than a few minutes. I'm on a fixed income so I take very good care of them. I hope your feet are happy in the new shoes.
ReplyDeleteI just hope my feet will allow me to keep on walking.
DeleteIlona those feet of yours have certainly done lots of miles walking haven't they it's amazing what our feet do lolx
ReplyDeleteI think sometimes we forget to look after our feet. I sometimes soak mine in a bowl of warm water.
DeleteThanks for showing your purchases. They are both lovely. I remember having plimsoles like that as a child. I like seeing your shopping for some reason! Best, H x
ReplyDeleteWe had black plimsoles. Much more practical than white ones, which always needed to be cleaned.
