At last they have got it.

Good evening.

The Coffee Morning was well attended this morning. The last Wednesday in the month is when we have a bingo session and a raffle. An announcement was made from the people who run the club. Prices are going to have to go up starting in January. The money they charge does not cover the outgoing costs. It's very cheap, £1.50 for a coffee, plus 50p if you want a cake. Over the last few weeks I have started paying more. I take my own coffee in my own mug, so I only need hot water.

I stood up and said my piece. Most people were in agreement when I said it's too cheap we need to pay more. This is a facility that we need to keep going. Two hours on a Wednesday morning. Come in from the cold, chat with your friends. I hand over £5 for the warmth and company.

The raffle ticket seller came with her tickets. An announcement was made, that they didn't have many tickets left. Usually they sell them for £1 for a strip of five. But that only gives you one chance to win a prize. This morning they said it is £1 for each single ticket . For that you get one chance to win. This crazy way of selling raffle tickets has been going on for a long time. No wonder they are going through far too many tickets.

I have said this many times before, what a waste of money. They should be sold singly for £1 each. At last they have taken notice. Hooooobloodyray.

Another waste of money I have spoken about is the use of paper plates for one cake. I often give mine back and say use it again. It's still clean. They could save a lot of money if they just used a paper serviette for one small cake. Let's hope they take that money saving tip on board.

Where is the common sense. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. We have a lot of elderly widows in our village, they live in nice houses and bungalows. They can afford to pay a bit more. Educating Rita, one of my favourite films.

To keep it Going.. too many gatherings are closing down due to lack of financial support. I had a leaflet put through my letter ✉️ box yesterday for carols at Christmas at the local church . Free tea coffee juices. All welcome. Think I might go .it's on the 3rd of Dec. I'm just going to run myself a bath and unwind with a coffee ☕️. For a while. Weather is raining today. So no walking as it's too heavy. Maybe if it stops later a quick village walk. If not tomorrow if it's a dry day.. see you later meanqueen-ilona 😘 πŸ’“

  2. Hi Ilona. Jane again. Paddy and Joe Laban are still alive and kicking although Joe is very deaf. This is all according to my good friend who lives in Melbourne. I have moved around a lot and you often mention places I know well. I lived in Pembrokeshire for 18 years just across the river from Pembroke Dock. I also lived in Cornwall during my school years and spent many holidays with my parents on St Mary's. What is your connection? Best wishes.

    1. Hello Jane. Good to know that Paddy and Joe are still around. Isles of Scilly was a holiday. I dig out old photo's for the header. I drove down to Salisbury, then down to the south coast. I went along the south coast through Dorset, into Devon, and Cornwall.

  3. I agree it is well worth it to pay more to keep a good thing going. One thing I do if coffee will be served is I take my 7 oz. small thermos. That way paper cups aren't wasted plus most important: paper cups contain plastic and we don't want micro plastic in our food and drink.

    1. A good idea to take your own cup. At least our club uses proper mugs which get washed. Now we just have to get rid of the paper plates.

    2. What about getting some tea plates from the charity shop, use for each cake then wash them as well? That would save on the cost of serviettes. It sounds like a lovely club. H
