Not worth losing sleep over

I still hate this new blogger dashboard, still can't find my way around it. It seems to take me all around the houses before I get to the right place. Far too many buttons which I don't need.

Anyway, there's no post for tonight, haven't done much, not in the mood. I've been going over all the comments on Thursdays post and deleted some of them which I find unsavoury. The majority of the comments are fine, but I am disappointed with some of the inflammatory language used by the minority, and would like to make the point that this is a blog and not a place to pick a fight with others who read and comment. I don't like bad language or name calling, no matter how much you have disagreed with their comment. It's great that you stick up for me, I very much appreciate it. Let's keep it a friendly place, the rude anonymous comments are aimed at me the writer, I can take it. It doesn't bother me, don't let it bother you. Now kiss and make up. XXX Bed time, good night.

  1. I agree. I couldn't even post my opinion without on your blog post without someone chastizing me over it. I don't have time for that kind of argument. Some people are altogether too sensitive and shouldn't be trolling the internet if they can't leave a trail where you can read all about them and their views. The kind that make everything about them and defend themselves when you haven't even said anything about them! That's MHO.

  5. Good Morning. The sun is out with a very blue sky. Slow cooker is on with the evening meal cooking. I am off to the Church to take away the flower arrangement I did for the Harvest Festival. I shall do a little more knitting this afternoon. In short, as your heading says, My Beautiful Life. Please make it yours from today onwards and put the rest behind. If you have a nice day take Rocky for a walk. I will be with you in spirit. Till later Dianne - Hereford. There left you a comment and I hope you are now dead chuffed.

  7. Hi Ilona, I wonder why people post nasty comments? Especially, as with the TV, there is an off button! If I don't agree with stuff people write, I just avoid that blog. Or, is that too sensible?! Glad to see you are carrying on regardless, good for you!

  8. Takes many a different people to make the world go around, some good, some not so good. Let's just forget about the not so good ones. Have a good day, Ilona. Have you got any snow down there yet? Very cold up here but no snow for the moment. Cheers for now, Christy.

  9. Hi,Ilona.First,to introduce myself,I'm Jan (anynomous cos lack the technical skills to be otherwise).'Stumbled' upon your blog recently, interested in 'living better'.Wow,I've been captivated, just about caught up now.Feel priviledged to have 'met' you and had a look at your lovely life.Your positive energy shines through.Your care and compassion towards little Rocky and the cats made me smile and shed a tear in equal measures. The difference you have made to that beautiful dogs life is amazing,Rocky has a true friend in you. It's a beautiful morning here (West Mids),hope you're enjoying the same.Just going to take my old canine friend for a little ride out(little stroll and big sniff these days!)She's nearly 16,so we've slowed down a good bit!I feel very lucky to be able to dedicate my time to her.Keep work to a minimum,it's all about priorities isn't it?Glad to have made your aquaintance and looking forward to keeping up with you.

  10. First think I want to say is that I read your blog almost daily (life permitting) and whilst I don't like everything you do (sorry eating from the pan on the last day - fine, but not when there are meals left in the pan, for me I see a potential for bacterial growth there, same with the make up)it is your life choices not mine and that I respect and still love to read about your exploits.
Having said that I think to take a break, be it for a day or what ever length of time you choose, can be a healthy thing. Previously I have experienced internet bullying, you need to insulate yourself from it a bit. I know easy to say but a lot harder to do. Whilst at the same time we have to accept that in the open world of the internet all peoples opinions are valid to air (not that the opinions are necessary valid, just the right to air them). People can frequently be a lot less considerate of the impact of their comments online, I also think the easy of the ability to re-read them can also be negative instead of them being ignored they keep jumping back to bite us.
Hope the day is as beautiful up there as it is here in Kent. I am sitting here with sunshine shining through the window, my ancient 20 yr old cat Boo on my lap watching the other 7 playing and enjoying the sun. Take care. Alison Funnell.

  11. Hi MQ,
I'm glad to read your last post.
I'm of the opinion that everyone has their own ideas of how life should be lived, if they say otherwise - well aren't they intitled to their opinion too ?
I actually think it has been wrong for the 'many' to attack the 'few' on this subject, some folks have disagreed with your lifestyle and have said so, that is their privelege, (blogs are open for all and sundry to comment on after all, unless you block them) but for everyone to 'close ranks' against these people, in my opinion, is totally wrong, and got completely out of hand.
I actually don't think you need anyone to 'stand up for you' anyway, you are a strong lady and can hold your own with anyone !

Just for the record, I also read your blog almost everyday, and love your eccentricity, your hints and tips, and as an animal lover and rescue worker myself can only totally applaud your work with cats and the lovely Rocky - long may you continue - it's your life, live it how you choose, if others don't agree - so what ? they should however, not be attacked for their opinion.
I also was saddened and sickened to read the 'foul language' used over the weekend, totally uncalled for. We can express ouselves without that sort of thing, and it lowers the tone of your blog - good for you for removing it.
I'm 'Wean' by the way from Weans Frugal World !!
take care and keep on blogging - you always have something to teach us.

  12. You are an inspiration to me. I dont see many free thinkers and those following their own path in my life. It is a good thing to see that there is another simpler and enjoyable way to live.

You inspire me to do some of those walks either in England or here in the USA.

  13. I have seen this so many times on so many blogs - someone make a unpleasant comment and everyone else jumps in to scold them and defend the blogger. It is usually blogs written by women where these sorts of cat fights start. Really, we are not in the playground anymore and I think you are quite capable of doing a bit of editing to reduce the nasty comments. It is true that a lot of bloggers need affirmation (I dont think you are one of them) and are very thin-skinned when commenters want to start a discussion about a topic and introduce another point of view.
Why do women feel the need to continually beat up on each other ?
The reason I like your blog is that you dont behave as if you invented frugality and you dont use foul language and blame supermarkets, government,
for everything your not getting which you think you are entitled to i.e. cheap food, cheap energy etc. There is a very hard-done-by attitude amongst some "frugal" bloggers and some of them have everything they could ever need or want.

  14. Oh good! Back to all your wonderful frugalness, kitties and doggies. Your blog is always so much fun to read and to look at. I find it highly informative and so entertaining. Thank you Ilona.

  15. I agree with lizzie's reason for liking your blog ( it's just one of them - I also enjoy the reports of your trips away and days out and your crafting). Some frugal bloggers do seem to think they invented the term, and aren't actually that frugal when you look more deeply into what they post. I don't want to use your blog as a battleground, so have reopened mine in order to exercise my right to reply to comments made about me on here by somebody else.
    Have a good week!

  16. I am glad you have addressed this and that other bloggers have agreed. I once made a comment on a blog and meant it kindly but,oh boy, I was subject to the most vitriolic scathing attack by the blogger! I felt really shocked when all I had offered was some friendly support such as I might have done to my daughter, had she been with me.Commenters should bear in mind that we don't know much about each other and there really is no need for disgusting language and juvenile responses, we can disagree without resorting to this.
Your blog is lovely Ilona, non judgemental and honest. I love it xxx PS the slippers are dangerous though but!
