Back later

I am having a sewing day, listening to the radio, have had to stop sewing because the tears are pouring down my face. Those poor poor people who's lives were brought brutally to an end when their plane was shot down. The evil in this world is beyond comprehension, I hope and pray that it doesn't escalate. What a terrible day this is, very sad.
Sending lots of love to their families  xxx
I'll be back later.

    1. Thanks Linda. I really am struggling to find words about this, words don't seem enough. Almost three hundred lives lost, eighty children, tragic.

  2. Tragic indeed, what can be gained by this? My thoughts and prayers are with the families.

  3. It's incomprehensible... and sickening. My thoughts and prayers, too, are with the families. My anger directed towards those who would do such a heinous thing. You're right, Ilona... there are no words.

  4. My prayers, too! How can people be so horrible? How can they so totally lose their humanity? It would scare me to know the answers. Hate has to be carefully taught. May the Lord comfort their families as we cover them in prayers.

  5. Your words are so true. I sometimes wonder if things can get any worse, and..... why yes they can! It was truly a horrifying day. I go about my day as usual, but prayers are constantly swirling around in my head. For the people that died, for their families and friends, and for all of us that we may move forward with greater love for our fellow man so this won't happen again. What was the point of this tragedy? If we all find more love in our hearts for our fellow man and all the creatures in this world, maybe it will not have happened in vain. The eyes of the world are on Russia.

  6. The whole world is in shock and as usual no one is taking the blame yet the finges are pointing to Russia and Mr. Putin. The whole of the world is a mess again, religian and greed yet again is at the fore front of things. How I wish our prayers could be answered and real soon for a peaceful world for our children to live in.

  8. I appreciated your comment so much - I reacted exactly the same as you in New Zealand. My husband is a really compassionate man but like most men he couldn't understand why I was so upset. He said you didn't have anything to do with it, you would never agree with anything that terrible so why are you so upset and feel responsible. I tried to explain but it is impossible to let someone into your thoughts. So thanks again for your post. Audrey

    1. Thank you Audrey. I think I was so upset because of all the innocent lives which were snuffed out in an instant. Young people who never had a chance, who had everything to live for. People who had aspirations, people who had such a lot to contribute to the world, all gone. Nobody should have to go too soon, before they have accomplished all they want to. Now my thoughts are turning to anger, find the culprits and snuff out their lives, and I won't shed one tear. I don't want to say that as I don't believe in revenge, but that's how I feel right now.

    2. I agree with your comment about so many innocent lives snuffed out in an instant but the one good thing is that they wouldn't have suffered and probably didn't even know what was coming. I will be glad if they catch the ACTUAL culprits concerned and stop the blame culture. In the end the person/people who pressed the button are completely responsible and inhumane, it doesn't really matter what country they come from they must be found and punished. At times like this, I wish the UN would take control and stop all the speculation until we know the real facts. BTW, I love your column and read it most days. Audrey

  9. I have cried, too, Ilona. The world is in mourning. I keep asking myself, why? Innocent people, good people, children who didn't even have the chance to start their life journey. Those passengers on their way to the HIV convention, trying to make the world a better place for all.The poor pilot and crew. It upset me more seeing the personal possessions scattered around and then the details of the people on the plane. My prayers are with them and the ones left behind, friends, family. And all the countries that are in mourning. It's beyond words. A passenger plane for god's sake.. I have flown Malaysian airlines to Kuala Lumpur and if I had the money right now, I'd book a flight this second as a show of support. I will at least write to them. We mustn't let these people win and stand together as a world right now. My only comfort is I believe when you die you face your maker and they will suffer. I still can't put into words how I feel : ( My love to all. Louise

  10. I was so worried when I first heard the dreadful news as my daughter was on her way from N Zealand and usually goes to Kaula Lumpa, on her way to UK I then heard it was the other way journey, My daughter arrived in Birmingham safely yesterday of which I am thankful for. In my newspaper today it showed locals going through the debris and looting the peoples belongings, Utterly disgusting. and such a dreadful time for the relatives who are mourning the loss of loved ones.

    1. Dear Su'ad. There are simply no words but all I can say is that I read your prime ministers statement on the Malaysian airlines website and I cried some more. As I did when I saw on the news a Dutch family had lost so many members and saw the drawings left by their childrens friends in condolence. I can't even think of the people who did this as being human. Louise

  12. As said, tragic, innocent lives snuffed out in an instant, there are no words...it is incomprehensible and evil and to what sick purpose? These precious lives are not collateral damage and dismissed and forgotten. It may be part of a war machine we don't understand but we all understand this is an atrocity that cannot be ignored by the world. Many are deeply affected by this tragedy, and it reaches far and hits home.Thoughts of shock, sympathy, sadness and prayers occupy me,and also despair that this could ever happen.I pray things don't escalate and hope all our governments act swiftly and strongly and do more than strategic public relations and soundbites and sanctions.Take care, regards, Destemona.

  13. This is the opportune time to ask -- you see something like this in which a person's life (several persons lives) were snuffed out in an instant. Tomorrow, who's to say, your life won't be snuffed out in an automobile accident? Things happen every day to people. Are you ready to go? Do you know where you will be if you should die tomorrow?
