KittyKat capers

Hello. It's all about cats tonight. I took this photo yesterday morning, the new cat on the block has taken to visit first thing. Mayze cat went out to inspect it, and they appeared to be in a frozen trance trying to out-stare each other. I watched and wondered what was going to happen next, they are about 18 inches apart. Mayze often guards her territory when she chases other cats away.
After a few minutes black cat very slowly backed off and crept away. She/he went as far as the hedge then laid down again to carry on staring from a safe distance. I think that was one point scored for Mayze.
I had the camera handy when I sat at the computer this morning. Heidi cat insisted she sit right in front of me. The lighting is not brilliant, I only have a small lamp on just enough to see the keyboard.

And this is Tina cat, awaiting a new home. She is used to me going in and out now, and greets me at the door. When she has scoffed the chicken I brought her, she takes herself off to bed and leaves me to do a bit of sewing sat on the sofa. So much for keeping her company, ha ha. We have to wait until the end of the month to see what the long term plan is for her mummy. If a new home doesn't materialize quickly Tina will have to go in a pen at the rescue.

Time to make my dinner. Thanks for all your interesting stories on yesterdays post, it's good to hear that so many of you are planning your future. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  1. I like a good cat stare off! They are funny aren't they. I've got a friend who works online from home - her cat frequently lies right across the whole keyboard!

  3. Sweet video of Heidi, thank you, but kind of bittersweet for me as she is the spitting image of my cat Tamsin who was put to sleep 3 weeks ago aged 18. She even has the same eyes and expression so slightly spooky too! Odette

  4. Ah, Heidi is one precious kitty! A very sweet, pretty girl. We have 3 kitties and they each are loving in their own little way. Tina is very nice, too, and it's probably lonely for her. I wish you could adopt her; she couldn't find a nicer home! But here's hoping she gets a good one. Have a great week Ilona!

  5. My uncle was quite bothered because a cat was sitting on top of a high fence looking down on his Suzy in their garden. They got very close too -I saw some fisticuffs & Suzy did a lot of arm movements & stood her ground x

    1. Our local cat rescue is run by a lovely lady, she has pens in her garden, and spends as much time outside with them, as she does inside her house. They have warm sleeping compartments, and in cold weather she puts heated bed warmers in. Tina is 6 years old.

  8. Heidi is a sweetheart. I,too, have a black and white tuxedo. My Lucy is just the same wanting heaps of attention. And she gets it. I hope Tina finds a loving home. We have three rescued cats and have reached our limit.

  9. I could watch cats and their antics all day! I envy anyone who has a cat they can actually stroke - ours won't let us stroke, touch, brush or pet her in any way. Basically she enjoys all the home comforts but on her terms. She does however follow me everywhere - very strange! Tina looks to be a lovely cat.

  10. I’ve never owned a cat so don’t really understand them - I think there was one at home when I was a little girl. I enjoy reading about yours though !!

  11. Poor Tina , she must miss her owner dreadfully. It must all be very strange and confusing for her. Couldn't you find it in your heart to take her, she seems to be comfortable with you?

  12. Tina pussycat surely has to end up with you, Ilona? What a kind and loving home she would have in her 'winter years'.

    2. Hello there, Tina reminds me of our cat Smudge who we sadly lost in June. She was a rescue cat with such a lovely nature and was always there to greet me when I came home, the house has felt so empty without her. I feel ready for another cat now and could maybe offer Tina a home but I don't know how far away you live, I am in Merseyside.

    3. It's very kind of you to offer a home to a rescue cat, sadly we are too far away from you. But, here is the page on cat chat for the Merseyside area. It lists the rescues nearest to you.
