Nine small duvets for pet beds

I guess a lot of people bypassed the second post about street art. One post is maybe enough, but I didn't want to put 19 photographs on the one post. I guess most of you didn't click on the link at the bottom of the last photograph, taking you to a short television report of the event, shown on BBC Look North, in which me and Angela had a small part. Nope, nobody commented so I guess you didn't see it.

Today I've made nine pet beds. A full size bed duvet cut into nine pieces to make smaller duvets for cats and small dogs. Only enough fabric for eight green stripey ones. I still have another duvet to cut up, that can wait, I'll make more when I have time.

  1. You're wrong Ilona, I did look at the second page and I watched the video of you and your friend. As you said it was indeed short and sweet. I think seeing it in 'real life' would have more of an impact than still photographs.

    1. Yes, they cut a lot of our interview out. We just happened to walk by when they were looking for someone. Yes, the real life art is much better.

  2. Sorry I never commented on the post but the artistes are brilliant so much talent.

The little duvets well keep the little dogs and cats warm them comfortable.

  3. Well, I missed it! I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but I enjoy looking at others' work.

I attended a brand new high school from 1960-64. It has since closed due to low enrollment. About 5 years ago, before it was reopened for use by two other schools while their buildings were rebuilt, there was an open house for former students. I went--hadn't been inside in 50 years--and I was surprised that so little had changed, and everything was still in good condition. (They don't build 'em like that anymore). The one change: students had been allowed to paint murals on the banks of student lockers that line the halls. They would never have allowed us to "deface" them back in the day! I loved it!! I hope they didn't paint over it when they re-opened the building for the other schools.

I love the pet pads. Are they something you sell at the cat stall, or are they used at the pet rescue

  8. Yes,I watched it too!.It almost seems a shame that the houses are having to come down!.Your pet beds are coming along nicely and I hope that you make lots of money at the fete.I am having a full day in today and Im going to make a start on my up cycling that came from my neighbour who left on Monday.I forgot to mention that in my haul that I rescued from there,I also got a huge roll of heavy duty sandpaper. So today my first task will be to sand the old stool and 2 sets of cupboards down.xx

  9. Your dog quilts are good, I've been doing the same for a while. Only for cats, depending on the quilt size I can make 9, 12 or sometimes 16.
i find curtains are good for the covers as duvet sets can be a bit on the thin/soft side.
They go to a local cat charity that use them for the cats in residence and selling on at their events. I've made over 400 so far. Keeps me out of mischief and benefits the cats in many ways.
Keep up the good work I say

  10. I watched it and sent in a comment. Sometimes mine do not get through. I think the street art project is terrific and I mentioned that I thought you would really enjoy being part of it.

  11. Hi Illona, I too watched the short clip, but I'm definitely not a fan of graffiti, I always think it just looks dirty and untidy - mind you, I wouldn't say no to a Banksy! I really like and admire those pet quilts, wish I lived nearer, I would buy a few from you, especially as it is for the cats, I SO wish I had the smallest bit of talent at making 'stuff', but with two left hands, it isn't possible:)) Terry in Reigate

  12. Yes, I enjoyed the graffiti/street art post. How much work the painters put into something that will soon be rubble. In an area a few miles from my home, backs of industrial building that run along a train track have been given over to street art. Each time I pass that area, I enjoy seeing the art - the painting is colorful and extravagant like your painted house. I enjoy seeing this type street art. Nearby there are also buildings that have been defaced badly with swear words and other obscenities written along them; this is the sad side of graffiti.
