There was, at both ends, loading and unloading. We used to have to wait for police escorts as we passed through counties. One team left us, and another team came and picked us up. Even more difficult when travelling in convoy. Heavy haulage companies now provide their own escorts, a van with flashing lights, that cuts down some of the waiting time. The exception to that is the really big push and pull jobs with multi rear steer axles. They still need to use the police to escort them. I see the Rodwells now have a fleet of DAF vehicles. They were all for British ERF's when I was there.
What a lovely looking lorry. I’d imagine with a load like this there was a huge amount of waiting around.
