A thank you to Brian for his little bit of research into the big red boat anchored at Edinburgh, which I saw last week. I have just spent a fascinating half hour reading up about it, and I feel lucky that I was there to see it. It is indeed a record breaking boat. It is the worlds most powerful anchor handling vessel, it has a bollard pull of 390 tonnes. Now I am not sure what that means exactly, but it sounds pretty impressive after reading up on it.
I have found a forum on which someone has posted pictures of a recent visit on board, they were lucky enough to be invited. I am drooling. The interior looks nothing like you would expect for a vessel working miles out to sea on the sea bed. It has all the luxuries you can imagine, it's like a five star hotel, or a cruise liner. Take a look, it is amazing.

That's nice - Thanks.
ReplyDeleteKL Sandefjord has moved on since your sighting. It's in the Mediteranean as I type, Spanish coast off Cartagena. Interestingly, you can track ships here

Hi Brian. I had a look at that site, but didn't know where Cartagena is, me dumbo eh! I zoomed in on it. You must be a bit of a boat enthusiast, as I remember you telling me about the one I saw at Hull. I must say, I am fascinted by how you can track their movements.

That was great! You seem to be having a brilliant time and I'm enjoying it with you!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible ship! More like a high rise office complex than a sea going vessel. Thank you for an interesting link.
