Does it run in the family.

My uncle is an artist, and my dad was too. Do you think it runs in the family, compare the two pictures. No, I don't either, ha ha. I knocked this up in ten minutes with some childrens chalks I found in the drawer. I forgot I had them. Maybe I should put them back in the drawer and forget about them for another ten years, ha ha.
This is the only picture I have which my dad drew. It is donkeys years old that's why it is a bit stained.
Oh well, I can't be good at everything, back to the drawing board. Ha ha.

    That looks like Louis Armstrong. I went to see him at Manchester Free Trade in the 1960s. Your dad was very talented. Don't knock yourself Ilona. You have artistic temperament as you have lots of original ideas that are artistic as well as practical. Art takes many forms.

    I was always told that 'Art is in the eye of the beholder' and going on that premise I find your chalk drawing lovely.
    Look at Lowry, some might say his drawings were childlike others works of art.
    Don't be put off, I think you have talent, lets see some more...

    As a previous art teacher of mine once said, it takes years to practice and perfect walking, talking, languages why should art be any different. Keep the chalks out and keep going. No you don't create in the same way your dad did but then you aren't your dad. :) Alison Funnell

    As Campfire said you have an artist's temperament. How much drawing did your dad do before he did the charcoal of Satchmo? I see real potential in your piece.

    Your dad's drawing of LA is perfect! I love it. Was LA not the best.

    Was drawing the only way your dad expressed his artistic side? You certainly have far more sides to you than you give yourself credit for. Look at your sewing, as well as other forms of creative art you come out with.

    Hi Ilona, you have a real creative streak in you and you make such great things out of bits and bobs. Your eye for a good photo, or making arty stuff, you're brilliant at it.
