How to wrap curtain rings with wool.

Hello. I set the computer to upload the video onto yoootoooob this morning, thinking it would have to start again from scratch, because I pressed the cancel button last night. Lo and behold, it started again just where it left off, and finished the other 50%. So that's useful to know for future reference.

Someone asked me how to make the wrapped curtain rings. I thought I saw it on yoootooob, but maybe I didn't. Then I remembered I saw it in a magazine, so here is my video. My hands wander out of shot a few times, and I'm not sure if it might have been better to film from behind me instead of in front. No matter, I'm sure those who are interested will work it out.

An idea came to me this morning about what I could do with them, now I can visualize it in my head I know what the next step is to bring it all together. I must say though some of the earlier rings are not as good as the latest ones, I need to make some more.

This is one I made this morning while waiting for the upload. I threaded two needles with two different colours, purple and pink. I think it's worked out really well.

I've got several projects on the go at the moment. I am fixing the vinyl flowers onto plastic strips, I need eight of these. This is the progress so far. Mixing the colours, and the leaves pointing in opposite  directions. It's going to look good.

It's been raining this morning, I'm hoping it's stopped long enough to do my walk. Whatever you are doing enjoy your weekend. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

    Some of them are a large version of a Dorset button that I learned to make at school nearly 60 years ago, along with Doeset feather stitch of course.

      They are. There are several different ways of making them, some use a crochet hook, some double up on the thread.

    I saw this in a certain monthly magazine yesterday. They wrapped them round with ribbon and fixed them and made a fruit bowl it looked good.

      Good idea Deborah. They could be hung singly on a tree, or strung up in a row like bunting.

    Didn't watch your video because I remember seeing this in the Golden Hands craft books many, many years ago and it was using the old fashioned curtain rings.

      I don't have them any more Natalie. On a de-cluttering 'frenzy' once I got rid of them, regretted it ever since. The rings were in the crochet section and was made into colourful stands.

    Your rings are so pretty looking forward to seeing how you display them. I love your flowers it has given me an idea. When I moved here there was vertical blinds at the window which I did not like so my daughter and I have been putting nets up today so I now have loads of cream 3" wide strips of blind to amuse myself with. It is been a dull rainy day here in Buckinghamshire. Hazel c uk

      Someone gave me some horizontal plastic blinds once, kept them for a while while I thought about what to do with them. In the end I had that many projects on I knew I wouldn't get round to it so I gave them away. There is definitely some potential there for someone with a bit of imagination.

    I love those curtain rings. In my stash I have a box full of glass bangles.. The look like the slim metal ones that we used to wear in armfuls. My friend brought them from Pakistan and they languished in her cupboard forever. I am planning to donate them to the craft group as I just won't get around to doing anything with them.

      If you need to know now, look on yoootooob, put Dorset Buttons in the search. If you can wait I am going to make another video, but I am busy for the rest of this week, so it won't be till the weekend.
