Risk and responsibility.

Here is the video I mentioned earlier. I went out to do a dog walk, then went for a glass of cider at my friends house, while it was uploading.
It's been a hot day today, not sunny but muggy and sticky with no wind. I think a storm is brewing. Time to put the lights on at 8pm, the days are getting shorter.
We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. I enjoyed visiting with you via your video and agree with your thoughts. Risk. Many people demand to live in a risk free world. Their demands affect other people as they want to limit our freedom. Same with responsibility. I don't hand over my freedoms. For example, if a restaurant or store demands to see my vax records I will not go there. Oh, your cat is a beauty.

    1. Well , let’s turn that around! If a restaurant or a movie house does not checks the vax record of the customers , I will not enter!
It is my right not to sit near contaminated people , and my responsibility to check that it is so. That does not make it completely risk free , of course , but it becomes an acceptable risk . I will not accept less !

    2. Michelle. You are as much of a risk to me than I am to you. Being jabbed is no guarantee that you will not be contaminated. I would refuse to sit next to you.

    3. You are absolutely right! That is the logic in social distancing . But , and it’s a big but , if we both get sick , my chances of getting a milder form of the disease are better , statistically . I look at the numbers often , and I’m positive on that one .

    4. We can discuss this until the cows come home, and still get no further ahead. I look at the numbers and find that the PCR test is flawed. It should never have been used for mass testing. The numbers of deaths from Covid have been massively exaggerated. Death certificates have been doctored to make it look worse than it is. There is massive evidence to back this up. I do not believe any of the numbers that come out of Downing Street. Pre existing health issues have some consequences for people catching it. Over weight being one of them.

I am positive that I am at a lesser risk than you are. My chances of getting it are minimal, and my naturally acquired immunity is far superior to your manufactured one, which will have to be topped up many times. If you choose to go down that path then good luck to you.

    5. I don't like that word 'contaminated' ...no living human being is ever completely been free. This is what propaganda does to people. Divide and conquer tactics. So if a person collapses you would not help them as they might be 'contaminated '? What a ridiculous idea.

    6. 'Contaminated'. That's a nasty word, it's basically describing people as unclean. Why would anyone assume that an unvaccinated person is carrying Covid? Vaccinated people are just as likely/unlikely to be carrying it. I think a lot of people have forgotten that Covid is relatively a mild infection for most people and the fear of it is totally disproportionate. I've never feared Covid - I was a little alarmed when it all first started but that soon wore off. I wear a mask in shops and I use a bit of hand gel when I get back in the car, and that's it. My immune system has served me well for almost 65 years and it will continue to do so. If vaccinated people don't approve of my choice of protection that's tough. I'm no threat to them if their vaccinations work.

    7. Good responses from Linda and Eliza. The word contaminated infers that something is dirty, rotten, and not fit for purpose. It's a terrible thing to say to another human being. It just shows how brainwashed some people are.

    8. Michelle, and All, just remember that fully vaxed people can be big shedders of the virus, with no symptoms for themselves, so vaxed people are spreading the virus to other vaxed and unvaxed people.

  2. I also find it baffling to understand why so many people don’t want to take responsibility for making their own decisions. NZ is a welfare state, a nanny state if you like, where more and more we are expected not to think for ourselves and just meekly follow along with decisions being made for us. I find this very frustrating, and struggle to cope with the idea that people are “happy” to give up their freedoms in this way, just so they can abrogate any responsibility for what is happening in their lives.

  3. We are living under a tyranny of safety. I do feel that other peoples risk aversion dictates how the rest of us live and has done so for a long time even pre Corvid - but even more so now. I'm glad I grew up when I did and as a child of the 70's experienced the freedom to roam, play on bale stacks, peep into birds nests and come home before dark with mud and grass stained clothes having spent the day climbing trees and falling off my bike. Those days seem to be confined to history but I'm glad I experienced them.

  5. What no one mentions anymore, perhaps because it's forgotten, is that freedom aligns with respect. It values true diversity of thought and choice. We say people should be free to love whomever they choose, voice their opinions, work in whatever field they desire, practice religion (or not), have control over their reproduction, etc. All of which is respecting individual rights. Not long ago there was a social emphasis on embracing and celebrating our differences.

I'm not sure how a virus that escaped from a laboratory changed all that, but it certainly has. Thank you for your video, Ilona. We don't all have to agree, but we should at least agree on mutual respect. We shouldn't forget what freedom actually means. --Elise

  6. Hi Ilona,

Like you I had a free childhood. I used to whizz off on my scooter down the big hill near the house, play Murders in the field with my friends (we used to wander around and make up stories about pieces of cloth or waste that we found), paddle in the brook at the bottom of our gardens etc., etc. Fresh air and imagination. Nowadays it's sit indoors in front of the telly and watch someone else's (usually crap) imagination.

Risk for me was 6 years ago when I stopped my chemo treatment as it was killing me! I read every piece of medical evidence I could find and then said good bye to my oncologist! Still here!

  8. "My chances of getting it (COVID-19) are minimal, and my naturally acquired immunity is far superior to your manufactured one, which will have to be topped up many times." Very much in agreement with that statement. A majority of people have underlying health problems due to lifestyle, and are more at risk. Their choice, but not mine.

  9. Me and my wife enjoyed your video and agreed with all you said. We are both at an age where we are deemed to be at high risk from covid, but neither of us feels the need to be vaccinated. We have never had the flu jabs either so this is nothing new. We feel it should be a matter of choice but there is definitely a disturbing undercurrent to the pressure being applied for having the jab. This feeling is confirmed by the use of the word contaminated to describe those who have not been vaccinated. Just as an aside this virus would not even have been classified as a pandemic prior to the change in parameters in 2009. Basically the definition changed from deaths to cases. Also heard there have been discussions about eventually charging for these vaccinations. Wishing you all the best.
