Good morning. Windy and wet up here in my neck of the woods. I hope everybody is back at work now and I can get on doing what I need to do, which will inevitably involve spending money. I need to get some quotes for work on the house, pay for car insurance, and book car into the garage. These tasks can be done on the phone.
I knocked out this short video yesterday. A little money saving tip for you.
I use my large scissors for different cutting up jobs in the kitchen. Here I show cutting up meat into small pieces for the cats. You can also cut up your own meat like this and stretch it that bit further. This method is much easier than using fingers and a knife. Safer as well if you are prone to slicing your finger with a sharp blade.
I use scissors for cutting up a slice of buttered toast into bite size pieces, then eat it with a fork. Saves excess wear on the teeth and sticky fingers. I also cut up buns and crumpets, and sandwiches. I use scissors for cutting up spring onions and celery. Also useful for opening packaging which doesn't respond to tearing apart with the hands.
That is my little tip for the day. What do you use scissors for in the kitchen?

I do the same as you. I try to avoid the sliced processed meats though as I was told it has a lot of salt and is bad for their kidneys.
ReplyDeleteMy son gave me a really great tip using scissors. To cut up pizza!! All these years I've struggled with a spatula or knife. It works a treat!

ReplyDeleteYes, it's easy to cut a finger when trying to slice something up with a knife.
DeleteI use scissors for trimming & cutting green beans, chopping mint for sauce, chopping fresh & tinned tomatoes, snipping the tops of packets, cutting dates & apricots, prepping chillies & peppers. Also use for non-veggie preparation but respect that you are not a meat eater. Take care & stay safe. Regards Jan in Castle Gresley.

DeleteI use scissors for many things--pizza, green beans, lettuce I am about to eat, meat, trim bscb with scissors before I cook it, green onions, lots of things.

DeleteTop tip Ilona - I boil meat most days for the dogs and it is expensive - in fact their shopping is the most costly - I shall use scissors to stetch it - thanks x

DeleteI'm a scissors user too. They are brilliant for cutting through meat and some veggies. I've taken to keeping my knives really sharp too. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

DeletePizza, cheese on toast, herbs, especially chives, spring onions, plastic packets to get a neat edge so they don't split, flower stems, trim candle wicks to stop them smoking, bacon fat to stop it curling when cooking....loads of things, but there's always more to learn about!
