Money saving Monday

I've had requests for more money saving tips. I've put together a few ideas in this video. Some people will already know about them. There are literally thousands of ways to save a few pennies here and there, a lot of them are common sense.
I got a five mile walk in while this was uploading. It seems very quiet in my street, and in the village. It's half term, I wonder if they have all gone on holiday.
I'm going to finish the night off by watching one of my favourite yoootooobers. Martin bought a tumbledown shack in the mountains in Italy. Every week he completes a new task to make the place inhabitable, and to become self sufficient. The scenery is stunning.
Thanks for popping in. see ya soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. Thank you Tammy. I try and put a positive slant on things. You can choose to be happy, or you can live your life in misery, like the troll below.

    1. I almost gave that clock away. I don't have any other clocks in the house. It sits on the top of the sofa and I am always turning my head towards it to check the time. It has been very useful.

    3. Andrew is touring Scotland at the moment. He has brand new toys. An electric vehicle towing a new caravan.

I like Terry's videos where he turns up at a church, or a pub, and bashes the hell out of a piano.

  3. Morning Ilona. Wise words again Ilona. Learned a lot from you over the years. I think you were the first frugal person I came across on line many years ago. Youngsters especially need your advice, plain and simple but nessary in this day and age. Keep up the good work. It's brilliant to see that your utube channel is growing. Great videos. Xx

  4. Thank you for this Ilona, very sound advice. We are all going to need to learn to be thrifty. I suspect some of the old ways our parents did things will be making a come back. You helped me a few years ago to embrace having a very small income and not to be afraid. I am not as good as you are but I certainly watch my money more carefully. I keep a sort of accounts book now which I find helps.Jo in Coventry.

    1. Jo, as long as you are living within your means, you are as good as me. Writing things down is a good habit to have.

All common sense stuff. The No heating rule only works in certain climates though!

I would add another, give up shampoo all together. It does take a few weeks for your hair to adjust but hair is much healthier if it isn’t stripped of its natural oils.

  6. Hi Ilona very good advice there. I do similar with food i make 3 day casseroles stews curries etc and use leftovers. I don't water down everything but shampoo washing up liquid etc but i am buying using much less. I never buy bags for shopping i have a few old reusable bags and as i don't drive/own a car i use a shopping trolly as there a few Supermarkets not too far or short bus journey. Oh i do some Ironing not much and my apartment here in Dublin is a few years old so it has wall insulation and solar roof panels but the solar panels don't give me any cheaper electricity. I live alone with 3 cats so not a big user and can keep cost down a bit. Love your blogs and videos. Linda from Dublin.
