Walkers check in 1st March

Good morning. Today is the day. . . . . when the International Walking Group are invited to check in with their mileage. Two months into the year and the target was 168 miles, if you are going for the full 1000. I made it to 174, phew, that was close.

The next target to aim for is 252, so we have 31 days to achieve that. Let's go for it. Now it's up to you to give it your best shot. Let us know where you are now in a comment.

A few random pictures from the archives.

Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

Bike ride with Brenda

Brenda in the Boro has been to Portugal, on her bike. Read about her amazing adventure on her blog. Fantastic photo's to peruse. What a gutsy lady she is. I don't know how she does it. Link to her blog on the sidebar, or read the first part of her report here.

Catch ya later.   ilona

A walk to Howsham.

After walking through the main shopping street in Brigg, I carried on to the roundabout at the end and took the A1084 road. I was looking for a footpath that I haven't walked before. I hadn't realised that Brigg has grown a lot in recent years. New housing estates on the outskirts.
The footpath I wanted was at Pingley Farm, I wondered if I had missed it and thought I might have to backtrack for a second look. Sometimes the wooden signs have broken off and lay on the ground. Easy to miss. I came across two men working on a plot of land, preparing it for a new housebuild. I asked them if they knew where the track was to Pingley Farm. Lucky that I asked, it was a few hundred yards further along the road.

We chatted for a few minutes. The plot was going to be one big house, I thought it was big enough for three of four houses. Mind you, all along that stretch of road the houses were very large and very grand, so I suppose their plan had to fit in with all the rest of them. I asked them when the job would be finished. They were at the digging the foundations stage. I suggested six months maybe. They said they are having difficulty getting building materials. They have been quoted a 26 week delay in getting roof tiles, so they have but their order in now. They are struggling to get the timber they need.

I found the path I needed, and from there on it was mainly striking across a series of fields following the well trodden paths through the middle of them. It was a lovely day for a walk, but still a bit chilly.

I came into the village of Howsham. When I got to the road junction on a bend I recognised this place. A few years ago I was rambling with a walking group. They made this their lunch break stop. Most of them went inside and ordered food. I sat outside with two or three others, and ate my sandwiches. I seem to remember this is a favourite stop for cyclists and bikers. It is known for good food and ice cream apparently. Here is a bit about it.
There is a telephone booth library. A place to swap books.

This converted church looks tidy. The extension blends in with the main entrance. Nice that they have kept the bell tower.

Then it was make my mind up time. I am using a green marker today. There aren't a lot of footpaths in this area. I could have gone across to Cadney and back to Brigg on the road, but I have done that route twice before. Time was getting on and I didn't want to finish the walk with a long hard slog. I could have taken the road north from Howsham to meet up with the A1084, then turned left for Brigg. But that is a very busy road so that wouldn't have been very pleasant with traffic whizzing past me. I decided to go so far along and turn left at Howsham Grange, and meet up with the path I started on.
I arrived back in Brigg at 5.30pm. I made one stop on my way back to the car. As I walked through the car park at Tesco I went in to buy some Sesame seed oil, something that Aldi does not sell. I had forgotten to take my purse but managed to find a few coins at the bottom of the rucksack. I bought three bottles at £1.90 each. Almost at my car and what did I find on the roadside, a £2 coin. Lucky find.
The sunset looked fabulous. I couldn't find anywhere to stop until I left Brigg and got out into the countryside. Following motorists do not like someone to make a random stop in front of them. I try not to annoy people. I managed to get this in a quiet country lane. Taken through the windscreen with the headlights on.
Today I am pottering around the house. With the nine miles I did yesterday I have reached the target of 168, gone over it actually. Don't forget check in day on Tuesday.
Thanks for popping in. Have a nice Sunday. Toodle pip.   ilona

Yarn Bombing in Brigg

I had a lovely day out today. Lots of photo's taken. Someone posted on Facebook that there is Yarn Bombing in the town this weekend. I have seen this kind of thing in other places. I must go and have a look.
I parked the car on an Industrial Estate just down the road from Lidl and walked in. The bridge over the river used to be open to traffic, now it is a pedestrian bridge.
Looking towards the market in the main street. All the bollards have been decorated with flowers.

The market was busy. I walked all the way through it searching for the decorated bollards.

It's a long shopping street. When I got to the other end I carried on walking and clocked up nine miles. I found a path on the map that I hadn't been on before, so I went to explore. I will put the walking pictures up tomorrow, as it's getting late now and I am tired.

When I came back into the town later I found some more decorated bollards which I had missed due to them being hidden by the market stalls and shoppers. Now the place was empty, so some of the photo's I look on the way out, and some on the way back.

I'l catch ya tomorrow. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

Simple hair washing

How do I wash my hair? At the kitchen sink of course, doesn't everyone do it that way. Quick and easy, at minimal cost. Heat the water in the kettle. I use cheap Aldi shampoo, it lasts ages. I leave it to dry naturally.
We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

Nothing to say, just wing it.

This is Mike, he is a German in Venice. That's Venice in the USA, not Italy. He is a funny guy, very entertaining, and his knowledge of the film and music scene is amazing. He drives around, scoots around and walks around his local area at Venice Beach.
The title of this video caught my attention because my subscribers would like me to post more videos, but often I think I have nothing of interest to say. Mike decided to make this video about nothing. I think he has succeeded, but he does know how to edit so it's easier for him to cobble snippets together. I hold back from making videos if I have no ideas in my head. Maybe I should give this a go.
Sunny outside, but still cold. A Billy dog walk is planned for this afternoon.
Thanks for popping in. Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.  ilona

Battered

I've been battered by the wind this afternoon. It was tough going across them there fields. It was slippy on the mud, I didn't enjoy it, more like a slog. I was wrapped up that much only my eyes were showing. Now I'm having a cup of cappuccino. Mileage 161, I should make it to 168, four days left.

Easy dinner tonight, no cooking. Food straight from the fridge to the plate. Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.   ilona

Jabberwocky news.

I was speaking to someone last week that I hadn't seen for a while. I asked if they had managed to avoid the dreaded lurgy. He said that he had caught it, along with other members of his family, after his first jab, and before his second. That put the date of having the second jab on hold, until he recovered. By that time he had second thoughts and decided not to get any more. It is usually the case that when someone has had the dreaded lurgy they have then built up some natural immunity, therefore it is wise to let the body carry on fighting any attacking aliens with the resources it already has at it's disposal.

I see that someone is taking notice of the adverse reactions entries in the Vaers and Yellow Card systems of reporting such incidents. This information can only be verified after an autopsy has taken place. Up to now authorities have been reluctant to order checks on dead bodies because the results might spark further reluctance to get jabbed, putting the whole planned programme in jeopardy.

Questions need to be answered to build up a comprehensive picture of whether the jabbbs are working or not. Data is needed, to confirm that the programme should continue, or should it be shelved until more evidence is available.

I think we all know by now that numbers have been distorted by anecdotal evidence. Someone who has a friend, who knows someone's sister or brother or mother, who has died of the virus. The follow up should have been that all adverse cases to be reported. But it is common knowledge that they haven't, therefore the numbers cannot be verified.

All sudden deaths should have an autopsy, only then can anybody be sure that a person has died from or with the virus found in their body. I was speaking to a funeral director the other day who I happened to meet in the street. I quizzed him. He said almost all of the bodies that have come through their company died with covid, not of covid.

Jessica Rose has written a paper on what she has found after studying a section of entries in the Vaers system. There are now 378 autopsies recorded. She takes a portion of them to analyse them. You can read about what she finds here.

I see there is a new jabbb making it's way through the testing system, manufactured by  French and British scientists. The companies are the French Sanofi, and British GlaxoSmithKleine. It is reported that this new one is 100% effective against severe disease and hospitalization of Covid.  You can read about it here.  They have made these claims before with previous treatments, before they have gone through the full testing programme, and before any long term data is available.

Make your own mind up. Look after yourself, and do what is best for you.

I might risk a walk this afternoon. Mainly sunny with some showers. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

What's going on in town

I went to town this afternoon to pay my car tax at the Post Office. Our small pop up village post office is not able to do this transaction. The one in the High Street is a fairly big shop, you wait inside the door to be called to a counter. Quick service, in and out in a minute or two.
I see that our Wilko is closing early March, I went in to see if they had any bargains. They have started shrinking the stock. Big gaps throughout the store where they have removed the shelving. I spoke to an assistant to ask if there would be a last minutes sale where they sold everything off. She said no, it was to be shipped off to other nearby stores. That's another very large building which will soon be empty.
I had a chat to the young lady who works on the Virgin desk in the shopping precinct. I always stop for a chat, she is very friendly.
There was a man and a woman with a sound setup, microphone and speakers, in the middle of the High Street. They were taking it in turns to preach about Jesus and God. The usual thing, we should turn to the bible for comfort. Then he starts singing, that was a bit hard on the ears. Nobody stopped to listen, everyone hurried past including me.
I bought a stuffed lion, a small toy for Billy dog. It was £1 from a charity shop. He carries them about and dumps them in the front garden. I pick them up and put them at the front door. They don't last very long after he has been tossing them about.
On the way home I called in the Cash and Carry. I haven't been in there for ages. Not much to tempt me. A box of Shreddies 60p, fat balls for the birds £1, and two boxes of cat food £1.20 each. They haven't had that brand before, we'll see how they like it. Maybe they won't. Oh and I found some rolls of spearmint lozenges, four for £1. I like spearmint better than peppermint.
This afternoon I did a three mile village walk. It is still very windy and freezing cold. I am a bit behind with my miles, I doubt I will reach the target this month. Never mind, ten months to catch up.
Here's a video I made this morning. I am showing the last three pictures I made, and a few food items from my kitchen.

Yummmmmy

Breakfast this morning. One portion of chip shop chips and half a tin of mushy peas.

They were very big portions from the chip shop yesterday in Barton. Angela treated me, she had the same. £2.20 each which I thought was a bit expensive. I suppose when you add on the costs of running a shop, it is quite a big one, then that will bump the price up.
I split mine into three portions. I consider this as a treat. Not something to eat on a regular basis.
It's turning into another rough weather day today. Still windy, with some showers. I need to find a one hour slot when it isn't raining, to take Billy dog out.

Three lollipop trees

It was nice to go back to the Scrapstore today, after a two year break. Angela wanted some fleece pieces to finish the rag rug she is making, and I fancied a run out after the bad weather has kept me in the house a lot these past two weeks.  I picked up a few bits and bobs. I got some small tester tins of paint, for the summerhouse tarting up in the spring.
We called in at Barton on the way back to get some chips. The portions were humungus. I have just had some warmed up for my dinner with half a tin of mushy peas, and there are still some left for lunch tomorrow.
We went to a shop called Boyes, they have all sorts of stuff in there. They have a good selection of sewing and knitting related items. I wanted some embroidery silks as there are several colours I am short of.
This picture is finished. It is 11 inches by 8 inches. The photo's are not that good when taken under artificial light. The colours are much more vibrant in real life. The picture will be behind glass.
The fabric I have used has a kind of rubbery backing on it so the edges do not fray. It was tough going to push a needle through it though.

There was a massive shower about 5 o clock. It is just possible to see the rainbow behind the trees. Nice to see that the days are getting a little bit longer. Soon to be time to venture further afield. When it stops raining.
Now to think of another arty project. Got to have something on the go on the craft table. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.  ilona

Second time around

Good morning. It's Monday and I am going to the Scrapstore. A comment came in overnight which I think deserves it's own post. When a reader takes the time to write at length about how she sees the current situation, and she has views which you won't find on main stream media, I am happy to give her comment another airing. Things soon get buried on blogs, many people won't go back for a second and third look. So here it is in your face, for a second time. Thank you Zoe.   Catch ya later.   ilona

Gill, I am a Brit living in Canada for many years. Also in Ontario. I have been following this all very closely for the past few weeks. I am a retired RN, Midwife and Nurse Practitioner of 46 years -just saying this so you know I'm not prone to flights of fancy. Do NOT believe MSM -the CBC is owned by the government. Trudeau has spent over a billion $$ to buy it. It's government controlled. You can google that as a fact. There are numerous videos on you tube to show that it was an elderly Indigenous person with a WALKER that was trampled by the police horse -and NOT a bike being thrown at the horse. You can see the actual video on you tube too. Together with a 78yr old 4'10" man that was thrown to the ground by 2 police officers twice his size, handcuffed and dragged away by them. The photos of the police -dressed like storm troopers holding batons and machine guns was horrifying. Please open your eyes- I know I have these past 2 weeks. I've been following the Parliamentary debates for 2 weeks- Justin Trudeau never, ever answers a direct question and has walked out 3 x when challenged. We know he went into hiding when the truckers arrived and he has consistently refused to meet with them-what kind of leader does that? The original intent of the truckers was to protest at the vaccine mandates for them, together with the 14 day quarantine on return back to Canada for those not vaccinated. For 2 years the truckers have been crossing the border with none of these mandates. Bear in mind over 90% of truckers are vaccinated and also that mandates will shortly be lifted for all of us. So why bother at this late stage of the game when it wasn't required before? It has now morphed into much more than this and it HAS become a control issue by the PM The truckers have been threatened with Children's Aid investigating them (in theory their children could be taken away from them), bank accounts/credit cards/insurance have been frozen. What happens down the line if we disagree with the government -they could do this to anyone. Also credit ratings have been affected -there's so many things they have been threatened with. I am totally horrified and sickened by it all. This was a peaceful protest -as I said do not believe what you hear on MSM - I have watched numerous sources and on the ground sources and the only violence I have seen was that committed by the police. Enacting the Emergency Measures Act
which has only been used 3 x in the past(WW1 and WW2 and during the PLQ crisis in 1970) BEFORE any other measures including meeting with the truckers, was undertaken, shows a deranged and despotic PM.
In the past few days I have been ashamed to call myself a Canadian. Never, ever did I envision this in our so called democratic country. I fear for the future of my g'children. It really has opened my eyes. It's so important to do our own research.
Yes, I'm triple vaxxed and yes, I support the truckers- I went on a local protest convoy last week-well organised and peaceful. I have also written/e-mailed our local MPP and MP , Doug Ford and a big letter of complaint to my bank-the TD -which froze personal accounts of people who donated to GoFundMe.
And finally, I totally agree with the truckers taking their kids with them to participate -why shouldn't they. The kids were NOT upfront and centre-never saw one anywhere near the protesters. They were either playing in the bouncy castles or the road rinks. there were no children seen during the hold-the -line protests. I've also taken my g'kids on protests e.g.. in support of our library. It's never to young to learn about freedom of speech/ freedom of expression etc. It's a good learning curve for them on democracy - well it was, not now.

Struggling to watch

I am trying to hold off posting more information about the present situation, but there are so many more videos emerging now. A lot of them are from people on the ground filming with their smartphones, but now more sophisticated documentaries are coming out. People are using new electronics at their disposal to compile films comparable to what main stream media might take months to put together.

MSM have had the monopoly on news for far too long, now people have the tools to fight back. End Times Video comes from the vaticancatholic.com, English Channel. It's called Australia Enslaved and The Plan For The World. I am five minutes into it and already I am finding it harrowing to watch. Since when has the police beating people up been a cure for covid.

I normally watch the whole thing before I put a link up. I will carry on watching it because it's raining outside. If you want to give it a go, here it is

Catch ya later.  ilona

EDIT. I posted this and took it down. Now I am posting it again. I have watched an hour of it. The video is six hours long. I will watch it in installments.

In the meantime I have just seen this video of an attack by the cops at Ottawa. It was shot this morning, Watch how six cops hold a man down on the ground and one of them knees him in the back four times. It is heart breaking. This is what we are all up against. These cops are animals, they will stop at nothing. Next time it will be murder. Just because it is not happening in your backyard don't think you will be let off lightly. Everyone is at risk when there are psychopaths pushing their agenda.

A dusting of snow

Oh dear, it's snowing. I'm glad I went to Aldi last night. It's a Billy dog walk day, I'm waiting ten minutes to see if it stops.
My crafty table has been taken over by Mayze on the new cushion. It's nice and fluffy, she can sink into it. I have to squeeze onto the space at the front if I want to make something.
I put together some scraps of fabric to make a background for a picture. The zigzag stitching looks messy. I fiddled around with the settings on the machine and couldn't get it right. It kept missing stitches. I think the layers were too thick as well which didn't help.
So I have redone it with straight line machining. I cut the tree templates out of cardboard. Now I am in the process of hand stitching them on. Not the cardboard, I chose some different coloured fabric. They are pointy lollipop trees.
It's now ten minutes later and the snowing has stopped, so I had better grab this chance to go out. Billy will be waiting for me.

Thanks for popping in. Have a great weekend. Toodle pip. ilona

Sad

I am eating my lunch and had to stop  for a minute to wipe my eyes and wipe my nose. This interview is so emotional. Briony talks about what makes her sad. Well this makes me sad. This lady is trying to run her business to feed her family. She did a kind thing by making a donation to the truckers to pay for some fuel to keep their trucks warm. For this she was vilified, and called horrible names.
This is the result of a dictator following instructions from his boss. This dictator, like all the others, show no humanity towards their citizens. There is something very sinister and evil going on, which is turning people into monsters.
I will repost part of a comment I received, to illustrate my point.
Hypocrite.  Who cares if you are unvaccinated. Who cares if you get COVID. Who cares if you are hospitalized. You have not shown one ounce of compassion to the families of those who’ve died of COVID. Only compassion is for the random person with adverse reaction to the jab touted by the conspiracy clan. I now know why you are called Meanqueen.
I hope you have a good weekend. The wind is raging here. The Summerhouse is safe.
We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

Unfair

Congratulations Catherine Buroker, the first woman to reach the finishing line in this race. Good on Lia Thomas for having the balls to take part.

Catherine is at the top of her game in swimming events. She came second in the Women's 500 Free Ivy League Championship. She was beaten by Lia Thomas, a biologically born male. How is this fair.

Lia Thomas spent three years swimming in the men's events, now she has a better chance of winning if she joins the ladies in the pool. I assume she still has a penis, or maybe she has undergone surgery, I don't know. She has said she is taking testosterone blockers. But she still has the body and muscle mass of a man.

Women's sport has become a joke now that men can take part. I feel sorry for the women who spend years training to be the best they can, only for them to be swept aside by someone who decides that they want to change gender.

Take a look at this article in the New York Post.

What a topsy turvy life we live in. Thanks for popping in.

Trying to work it out

I doubt if I would be able to get to grips with the digital world, looking at what is looming on the horizon. The world is into a new era and I am stuck in the old one. The only chips I want inserted into me are the potato kind.

I checked out the web site Biometric Update.com, to see if I can fathom out where all this is going. The digital world is nothing like the world we know now. It's a scary place. A whole new language has built up around it, and I am no good at learning new languages. Tried German for a while, but gave up.

Do you understand this?

The European Association for Biometrics is hosting a presentation focused on deepfakes and automated identity verification. While liveness detection is a trusted mechanism to secure the real user’s presence, deepfakes are now creating new attack vectors. This presentation will explore what deepfakes are, what biometrics can do to combat them and if they the real challenge for identity verification.

Biometric spoofing attacks are more easily spotted by artificial intelligence-based computer systems than by people, according to new research

I think I understand this bit.

Talk turns to leveraging digital identity infrastructure as COVID credentials retire

Mobile digital identity technology and infrastructure have been dramatically advanced by digital health passes, which provide the foundations of identity verification and linkage to credentials that can underpin mobile identity wallets. With a little more progress, Peters suggests similar technologies could bring digital identity to the billion people who still do not have it.

A ticking off.

I've been meaning to get a tick twister for a long time, but have never seen any. They had some at the vets so I grabbed one from the display. It was £4 and a bit. Two sizes in the case.
Probably a good idea to buy them because I walk in woodlands and long grass, sometimes wearing shorts. I had a tick attach itself to me once. I couldn't remove it because it was on my back, so I went to the doctors surgery and the nurse got it off for me. Thankfully I didn't get Lyme disease from it.

I made a cushion today. Made the cover from a piece of bedsheet, and stuffed it with a bag of offcuts I got from the Scrapstore. I made it to go on the chair in the Summerhouse. Cats go in there to shelter from the rain. Mayze decided she likes it, so for now it is on the table.
I battled through the wind and rain with Billy dog this afternoon. He doesn't like rain much so I cut the walk a bit short. I like to do an hour but today he only got 40 minutes. He told me he had enough so we took a short cut straight back home.

Spotted this out of the window as the sun was going down. I love to see the clouds lit up like that.

It gave an orange glow over the back garden. The sky actually looked darker than in the picture.

I have the computer on when I am in the house to catch any interesting news which might come on. Those who are following the current situation will find that I sometimes add some little snippets with some links onto a recent post. I added three comments today on No going back. I don't want to swamp the whole blog with it, but I think it's important to keep up to date. Things are changing all the time.

Time to get dinner. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona
