Some of my photo's from a visit to Saltaire in 2017. I went to see the David Hockney exhibition. Here is the blog post if you want to see more of them. I love his work. I love the way he lived his life on his terms.

He had an impish sense of humour. I remember when Wakefield Council asked him if he would kindly let them have an image that could be used to sum up Wakefield and the surrounding area to put on the front of their yearly travel brochure. It was quite a rural view, in his usual bright colours and thousands of the brochures were printed. It was only then that someone noticed that the large curving hedge in the middle of the image, along with the rounded bush at one end resembled something very rude! It certainly got them a lot of attention, but not in the way they had hoped for!
ReplyDeleteHe was certainly very quirky and put his own spin on things.
DeleteI spent most of yesterday listening to David Hockney tributes and went though old exhibition books and postcards that I have bought over they years,.. loved his work so much,… going back over his body of work,.. wow,.. so much he did, and it will continue to give pleasure,.. the imagination in each picture, the colour, vibrancy, wow,.. he had a gift. ReplyDeleteYes, I've been watching a few tribute videos. He leaves a great legacy.
