Good evening.
It's been an odd weather sort of day. Doesn't seem to know what it's going to do. Sunny, warm, windy, cold, and cloudy, it changes by the minute. I can see the clouds scooting across the sky right now this minute.
I waited for the rain to stop this morning, then I went out to do a bit of litter picking. There is a small car park close to a long distance path, the Trent Valley Way. It has two names actually. Also known as the Nev Cole Way.
I haven't checked this for a while. I drove there because if there is a lot of litter I'm going to need my trolley. Good idea, There was plenty to fill a red bag. There are two piles of fly tipping, I'm not going to touch them. First I pull out all the litter which is partially buried in the tall grass and weeds.
There is a bin but it is overflowing. I will have to get everything out of there.
It took a while, about two hours. I took my shears and secateurs with me so I could chop down the weeds around the bin. That's better. A few ramblers walked past and stopped to chat.
Everything loaded back into the car. I dropped the bag off next to the litter bin in the village. Hopefully people will notice that someone is making an effort to keep the countryside tidy. It might make them think twice before throwing their litter down. After a late lunch I took Billy Dog for a walk. Time to get the hedgehog food out now. There has been four coming every night just lately.
I shall be chucking out some extra posts in the next few days.
Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your Sunday. Toodle pip. ilona
Sounds like a busy day. I do hope people take notice of your hard work and will think twice before throwing trash on the ground. I read the news headlines and think it’s just madness what is taking place in different parts of the world. But, I still do try and hang on to the thought that there are still good people out there. It’s just happy doesn’t seem to sale newspapers or get as many views. Keep spreading sunshine mother!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe can live in Hope Tammy. We can't give up. A good dose of common sense is needed. The political scene in the UK is complete bedlam.
DeleteI can only assume that the people who litter didn't have parents like mine. This country would be a much cleaner place if they did. Keep up the good work. We can't let the mucky brigade win.
ReplyDeleteSome people don't have any pride in where they live, which spreads further afield when they are out and about.
DeleteGlad to hear the mention of Billy dog. You hadn’t mentioned him for a long while, so I as wondering. Perhaps you could take him with you when you litter pick. Long lead attached to the trolly, bet he’d enjoy pointing rubbish out to you and digging it out. Norma in Stafford.
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice, if I could do two jobs at the same time. Billy has his own plan about what a walk should be like. He leads the way. Stopping to sniff, searching for any food that someone may have dropped, and heading for home when he has had enough. Usually 40 - 60 minutes. It wouldn't work. he pulls the whole time, and is too old to learn new tricks.
