Going back to May 23rd 2026, I wrote a post about receiving a letter from Capita plc asking me to confirm my details with the NHS. I did not reply to this as I do not want my information put into a Capita digital data base. You can read about it here.
About a week ago I got some texts from our medical centre here asking me to contact them. I wondered why because I never hardly ever go there. I am not participating in the ongoing free jabby thing, that they keep sending me reminders for. Anyway, I walked across the road to our medical centre and spoke to a receptionist. They want to confirm my address. I did so, same address for 25 years.
This video has come to light, a doctor talking about the digital database.
Maybe this information will be helpful to someone else, so I am happy to pass it on. Perhaps this is a choice that I am not able to make for myself. At the moment I don't need the NHS, except for free hearing aid batteries. I must be saving them thousands of £'s. I wonder what will happen if I should fall ill. I shall try not to.

When my surgery couldn’t contact me via the old phone/ text number they had for me, they smartly wrote to me. Think there were about 3 attempts over several months though, before they resorted to post, which was good because it was for a 5 yearly smear test which I didn’t remember hence it was due… so very important. ReplyDeleteI read that the NHS does not require your permission to scan and upload (digitize) your medical information. I read that GPs are well on the way to completing that transition, while hospitals are lagging behind in the process.
ReplyDeleteI work in IT for the NHS. Everyone’s medical records are held digitally. Have been for years, transferred from paper back in the 1990s. Digital scans of letters, X-rays, etc are all held digitally, I.e. as zeros and ones on servers,.. just like you bank account. It’s just zeros and ones,. No physical money, just numbers indicating something.
ReplyDeleteThat means they can just remove your ability to take out money. They just put a flag against your account that says 'no withdrawls', withdrawls_allowed = 'N'.
DeleteI was at the GPs recently for a repeat prescription. There on the screen was EVERYTHING about me, my recent trip to A&E (must match on name and I had to give my surgery address when I arrived at A&E), my PRIVATE appointment for a Physio (again, linked to my name + I had to gibve my surgery so she could look up my medical history - yes, apparently she pays for that system access !) and my minor surgey at the dentists (again they cross-referenced my surgery to inform them of my mouth surgery there ),.... so you see, they all PAY and share, they have more reliable records about me than I can actually remember - as my very nice GP turned the screen around and showed me screen shots of an MRI brain scan I had 10 years ago when I fell off a horse. If we USE the system for ANYTHING, I don't think we can escape it,... you'd have to go entirely off-grid, no doctor, no dentist, no medical help,... I can't do that, I need my HRT !!!! lol Charlotte.
