Hello. Well that was a bummer, loads of people turned up to see Dennis Skinner, and he didn't come, he rang in sick. The woman on the door said she only found out an hour before. They had managed to find an alternative entertainer, but that wasn't what I bought a ticket for, so I had a full refund. I went to Tesco instead, and found some yellow stickers, so I managed to salvage something from the evening.
Now I'm scoffing cheese and crackers, and supping cider.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.

That is a bummer still your whole trip sounds fab. So sorry for getting your name wrong too.

What a pest that was!
ReplyDeleteAt least you were able to turn it around for good!
ReplyDeleteSurely, a sensible girl like you didn't actually pay to go and listen to that old reprobate, simply an attention seeker? I'd not give him houseroom let alone pay to listen to him, Ilona. I'm really surprised; he must be your 'blind spot' for we all have one, something which seems strange, almost unbelievable, to others but totally sane to ourselves!

Hi. Yes I did pay £15, I wanted to go and see him because I like him. He talks a lot of sense and shows compassion for the ordinary working class. And he makes me laugh at how he shakes them all up in the stuffy chamber.
DeleteHe also presumably has compassion for immigrants and refugees as a left winger. Your views on that were decidedly right wing.
DeleteI am neither right nor left in politics, I am somewhere in the middle. The same as gender, I am androgynous and somewhere in the middle. The same as I have no religious leanings, I am somewhere in the middle.
DeleteA shame he fell ill on the Friday, we were all looking forward to reading about your evening, hopefully you'll have the chance to meet him sometime in the future.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your trip as much as you did to Yorkshire via your photo's
God bless.
Oh no what a shame. I was looking forward to reading about it. At least they gave you a refund. I like him too....
ReplyDeleteThere's been an interview with him tonight on radio two. You can probably find it on I player. Xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame Ilona, I expect that Mr Skinner will be doing another 'talk-evening' somewhere near you; if he were to do a 'talk' near me I would certainly happily pay £15 and go along. I don't agree with all of his politics but, I admire him for expressing his views. No doubt he would have some very funny and enlightening stories to tell about his time in the Commons. On a light note, this week was the Queen's Speech opening Parliament and he is renowned for making a loud comment as Black Rod enters the chamber to summon the MPs to the Lords; one of his famous ones was, as Black Rod approached, 'here comes Puss in Boots!' All, including Black Rod, took it in good heart. Anyway, pleased that you had a lovely birthday week; the photos of your trip were great. Amanda
