This is the longest commute I've ever done, thank goodness it's a very short term job. I don't know how people travel a long way backwards and forwards every day, Monday to Friday, for months sometimes years on end. It's a good job I am used to driving. Nothing I could do about the massive jam last night on the A38, there had been an accident on the M1 and traffic was looking for alternative routes. I read an article in the Mail this morning, someone filmed two big blokes who were out of their cars and brawling on the M25, physically punching each other. Jeez, calm down chaps.
It's been interesting to see other peoples reactions to my art. When people I know tell me that it's lovely I think they are just being nice, but when strangers say that, it's a bonus. I like my art when it's finished, but then I would, wouldn't I. When someone peers closely at it and declares it's amazing, it makes me think maybe I'm on the right track. So I'll carry on and make some more. Not just yet though, I'll have a break from it after this and do something else. Adios. ilona

I didnt realise that you were travelling back and forth each day!I thought that maybe you were staying with relatives...but then realised that you have got your cats at home to look after as well. You are so dedicated in all that you do and I hope that you sell lots of your work. Its lovely that so many strangers love your work too!xx
ReplyDeleteI have a cat sitter, we share the job.
DeleteGood luck with your art exhibition x
ReplyDeleteFor me, the long commute was a time of distressing and contemplation. I have to admit it was on country roads, one hour each way. If it had been the Interstate with bumper-to-bumper driving I wouldn't have liked it at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona,I know this is slightly off thread...as I do,lol. But Ive just been watching some of your older You tube videos...I thought that I had watched them all...then found a load more!!.You are a learning curve for our grown up children and our Grandkids. My Family do recycle, when at my house now....not sure they do at their home though!!.But,I am going to show them what you have made from your Arts and Crafts page. They are all creative in different ways...but your way is alot more money saving and individual.I hope that you have had a great day in Burton on Trent...you deserve it!xx
ReplyDeleteDoing well - keep up the good work x
ReplyDeleteI have never understood how people can commute for hours - it was bad enough living in the city - my normal commute by bus and/or subway was normally 45 minutes to an hour - but at least I usually got a seat, could read, and it was heated in the winter and air-conditioned in the winter. I worked with many who lived in the far suburbs and beyond and their daily commutes could easily be 1.5 to 2.0 hrs or even more - ONE WAY! I think I would have lost it on more than occasion if I'd have to do that 5 days a week!
ReplyDeleteI hope that everything is going well with the exhibit and can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck.
Hope all is going well Ilona. My hubby commuted for two years and then one evening he got home after witnessing a terrible accident and told me he'd decided to leave his job. Nothing is worth the free time both of us got back from having had those dreadful early starts and late evenings.
ReplyDeleteJust give your art work time. It is wonderful and it will be discovered. I wish I could have been at the show to see all your art as a whole. Keep at it and don’t give up. As in everything else, just keep doing it your way.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have had a good time.
