The masterpiece is finished......I think

And here it is, I am ready to unveil my latest masterpiece. I have taken the photographs outdoors because it was a hedge bottom which gave me the idea for the design.
Imagine, what would happen if this piece of plastic was laid for several months, years even, outside on the ground, lost in the undergrowth, and no one knew it was there. Mother Nature would do her work, the weeds and grass would gradually creep over it and devour it. This is my interpretation of nature reclaiming what is rightly hers.
I decided that the piece would be better hung upside down, so the wheel arch is at the top. It can be hung on a wall, but if I were to put it in an exhibition I would like to lay it flat just as it is here, surrounded by natural living foliage.

I am so pleased with it, I love it.

  2. Ni kidding Ilona, I think its really nice.
It would look nice mounted on the wall.
I like the sponge effect around the edge.
Go on, enter it into some exhibition somewhere, its good enough.

  14. Jan here.Wow,it's beautiful, what talent.Really cheered me up after a mixed sort of week-end.Thought we were going to lose our old girl, went to vets on Friday pm,blood tests taken but results not back until tomorrow(hopefully).Thought she was slipping away Friday pm and all day yesterday(my birthday).Best possible present was that she came through Friday night.I watched her breath all night long and again last night. At 6am today she seemed to become 'herself' again.Still very wobbly but back with it.I'd meant to reply to earlier post, about your reaction to animal cruelty, but not had a second to do so.Anyway,I can relate to how you feel, good for you.I think we should be worried when abuse of inocent creatures doesn't affect us.As for the abusers,in my opinion, there is no excuse. No one has to have an animal,if they do,then it's there responsibility.Hope your dury service goes okay, from what I understand, they use 'lay people' because we do have a variety of perspectives.Anyway, thanks for sharing your masterpiece,it feels like a bonus for a birthday that didn't really happen.Much appreciated.

  18. That is so very beautiful. It reminds me of a Liberty print (William Morris) What are you going to do with it. I wish you could paint some of those flowers on my kitchen cupboards. I fancy those medieval hares as well. You definitely have the artistic gene.

  20. I can see that you are artistically talented. You drew those flowers? Wow. It is beautiful. Like everyone else said, you really should try and show that piece of art somewhere. Have any ideas about where? I once had to make something for a fund raiser at my daughter's school and painted a picture on a flower pot (clay pot). Well, someone saw it and said it was very good so I decided to make more for the fund raiser. They all sold! Of course, it was for the school and not me but it was still nice to do something to raise money for a good cause. Your artwork should be seen by others. There are alot of possibilities. Sometimes a small, local shop will show your art. Ask around. Don't stop! Do more!

    1. My flowers are simple, just outlines, and don't have to be like real flowers. I can't paint depth, light and shade, and can't paint things in the correct proportion. Just a mish mash of objects really.

  23. It is beautiful Ilona. I know what you mean about leaving it at the hedgerow bottom, but who would see it then. It will look good on the wall.

  34. Absolutely amazing Ilona, you are a genius and so talented. Now that IS what I call 'art', not like some fancy squiggle in a frame that would fetch millions by a big name artist. I hope you are 'discovered' very soon! Best wishes Sue G.

  37. Hey, well done, I love it, like someone else said, it reminds me a bit of a vintage tea set.

  38. Your painting is absolutely gorgeous. And I understand your concept - reclaiming/reusing/recycling rubbish and imitating nature reclaiming discarded junk.

But, you know, if you did this design on canvas, I could see a big demand. Or on material for cushions.

    I just love it!

  39. Thank you all for your comments, it's nice to get your feedback. I've got an idea for another piece, I will start scribbling some ideas down on paper before I start it. You can't rush these things, a bit of trial and error, standing back and taking a look at it, see what's missing. That's why I added the words 'I think' in the post title. I wasn't quite sure when to stop painting, didn't want to leave it too empty, and didn't want it to be too cluttered.

Anyway, I'm still in bed and it's gone 10am. Having a lazy start to this drizzly morning. I've got into the habbit of putting the laptop on first thing, that way I can reply to your individual comments, which I can't do on the big computer. Toodle pip, till later

  46. Your art is so lovely Ilona. The flowers are beautiful and the composition is gorgeous, and I love the fact that you have represented nature so wonderfully on a piece of metal that represents technology. Two things which are so opposite have been brought together in art. I am in awe of you.

  49. Hi Ilona, I love your new artwork. You've done a great job of it, it's very pretty and colourful. I really like it. You're very creative. I was looking at a website the other night which was selling stencils and stickers to decorate walls with and they cost an absolute fortune. I was just looking out of curiosity, as I saw it advertised on the TV. I'd much rather have you paint flowers on my wall than have their stickers. I'd love to see a complete car done with your flower design, it's really cool. Cheers for now, Christy.
