Meeting Santa

Twas a lovely crisp sunny morning as we had a stroll round Normanby Park. The deer were close enough to the fence to get a photo, usually it is hard to spot them as the park is so large. The beautiful stags with their massive antlers are a magnificent sight.
The public are allowed to go into the deer enclosure but there are notices saying not to approach the deer, so we gave them a wide berth. Instead we headed down to the fishing lake at the bottom end. There was nobody about so we had a lovely peacefull stroll. Rocky wanted to go into the water, but it was a bit too cold for that, and I didn't have a towel to dry him. He was disappointed.
However, he loved meeting the snowmen in the walled garden.
And he got ever so excited when he walked into Santa's Grotto and Santa lifted him up for a cuddle. Rocky soon setled down and was enjoying the attention. Now Rocky, tell Santa what you would like for Christmas.
Rocky wanted to go on the miniture railway but there was a long queue to get on, and he didn't want to stand around waiting. Instead he played, 'chase the ducks across the lawn' game. Then we played with his squeeky toy which I had in my pocket. He is very good at fetching it back.

I think I am losing the plot, ha ha.

  1. Okay I'm leaving a comment so I hope "dead chuffed" is a good thing. The area you live in looks beautiful. I'm not sure that Rocky was excited to have his picture taken, my Roxy barely tolerates it and her distain usually shows in the pic.

  3. Oh Ilona, only you would get Santa to take a dog on his lap :0) I bet Rocky asked for lots of bones and pigs ears lol

Dead chuffed means extremely pleased Ronda :0)

  4. We know Rocky has been good all year, so I bet he asked Santa if he could live with you.
I like Normanby Hall too, not keen on all the birds around though. Last time I went on the miniature railway was when we took our Nursery children there. It was flipping freezing and lots of the kids were terrified of Santa...lol

  8. Hi,from Jan.The pic of Rocky with Santa Paws is magical. No doubt about what he asked for.Fingers and paws crossed that one day he'll officialy be yours.Or,more to the point, you'll officialy be his!It happens, considered myself to be a 'free spirit',couldn't be tied down with kids etc. Now,my life revolves around looking after my 'old girl'(and her little pal until he had to leave us earlier in the year). No regrets at all, except that they have a shorter life span than us.Think some things are meant to be!Rocky is a wise and lucky boy to have found someone with your heart and values.

    1. He was a bit apprehensive when Santa picked him up, but soon settled and looked quite happy after a few minutes. I took the photo quickly in case he wanted to get down, but he didn't. He was happy to sit there untill the next child arrived.

  14. Hi Ilona, Lovely photos of Rocky. You may be well aware of this already but this has just been posted to me on a social networking site.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341137/Hundreds-dogs-cats-die-rock-salt-scattered-gritters-big-freeze.html

All about the dangers of rocksalt and how it affects animals. Hope you aren't offended by me posting it, I didn't even know myself, was totally unaware of the dangers to animals. So I hope this information helps all the pet owners that post. Not stopping long, want to cosy up under my new sherpa fleece blanket, it's lovely and cosy, keeps me toasty warm. Night night. Christy.

  15. I think that perhaps Rocky asked Santa that all animals in the world are taken care of and loved.

  18. Hi Ilona, Like the top photo of the stags, wouldn't want to get too much closer than that though. It's ashame about the windfarm in the background, spoils the landscape in my opinion. You had a nice day for your walk with Rocky, even if it was on the cold side. It sounds like you've been getting a bit more snow than us, we've just had a few light dustings in the mornings, icy at nights though, pavements like a bottle. Rocky is a star as always, cute as ever. Cheers for now, Christy.

  19. Rocky looks quite cute on Santa's lap. Rocky has been a good boy, so Santa will bring him lots of goodies this year. I love this photo...it would make a nice Christmas card.
