Hello me hearties. I really shouldn't be showing you this. I've been working on it all day, hoping to get it framed, but run out of daylight. Working under artificial light is not the same, especially when my work stations are spread about between the two tables downstairs and the work bench upstairs. When I piece pictures together bit by bit it takes ages to search out the right type of fabric, plain or patterned, the right colours, and the thickness of the fabric, so it's a lot of walking up and down stairs.
I think this is ready for framing. Just when I think I have stitched the last stitch I always find a little bit more to do. The frame is ready, an old one which was given to me has been painted.I find hand sewing very therapeutic, even more so now I have discovered the gentle relaxing music on yoootooob.
I'll finish it in the morning and show the whole thing tomorrow. Right now Bugsy needs his hot water bottles refilling, it's perishing cold outside. I went to the church post office this morning to pay my last installment of Council Tax. Two free months now before it starts again. Picked up more free hearing aids from the medical centre because I've almost run out. Two packets last me six months. Fetched the bins back in after the council lorry has emptied them. Had a postcard from two of my readers, they are in London having a good time. Thank you for that.
I'll be glad when we start getting a bit more daylight. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

Hello Ilona, just writing to wish you a speedy return to warmer weather. I really enjoy your blog, and the walking challenge, but don't write often. Lest you think no one is reading, my assurances we are ;). Winter here in Arizona has arrived, sunrise at 7:30, so for us,the days are short. High today 74 but we will see rain this weekend and highs in the 50's. You can laugh in July when we are melting. Thanks again for your writing, I really enjoy the glimpse into your world and a bit of England!
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely gorgeous piece, well done Ilona!
ReplyDeleteI love this piece of needlework. I spent my childhood holidays in Sheringham, Norfolk, Where my family originated from and some have retired back there. I now live outside London. This reminds me of the row of beach huts there and some years the family would all come together and rent one for the week. Happy days. I have been reading with interest about everyone's Christmas but didn't have anything to add that hadn't been said already. I have still read every post with interest and all the comments but just haven't joined in recently. As someone else said, just so you know, we are still here. Some of us go quiet for a bit but we are still here. Looking forward to seeing this framed. I would be very happy to have this one on my wall.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Ilona. I love your jolly beach huts and all the stitchy details.

Gorgeous work Ilona. That cheered me up; the frost made the landscape very pretty here but talk about 'brass monkey' weather - brr! At least we've got over the shortest day and the mornings will get gradually lighter, I'm a morning person so loathe the darkness when getting up but it won't last for much longer - Spring around the corner, hurrah. I also welcome the 2 months breather from the council tax as it's my biggest bill. Amanda
ReplyDeleteYou are amazingly creative....love what you make. Can't wait to see it framed. Cheers Jo
ReplyDeleteUplifting....thanks for sharing.

Wow, another beauty! Love those houses and sun!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, you are so talented Ilona♥ Being downunder it's so hot and humid here, the thought of cold weather sounds wonderful:) Linda xx
ReplyDeleteI like your stitching; I must have a go myself.
ReplyDeleteLoving those beach huts and the waves on that very very blue sea x I do a little sewing too but am more into crochet and knitting (socks on my needles and a crochet blanket WIP at the moment).I need something to keep these winter evenings ticking over, at least we've passed the longest day now and it won't be too long now before the days start to show a more little light at 5pm yippee! It's all down hill then to spring and after reading your other posters I'm not alone. Happy 2017 Ilona and keep on doing "your" thing we all enjoy reading about it x Rae x
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...Happy New Year to you!
