Hello. I did a Bailey dog walk today. It was a nice morning, so we went to the park, this was Rocky's favourite place to walk. It was busy, half term here and the kiddywinks were having fun riding on the landtrain, scooting their scooters, climbing trees, kicking their footballs, and feeding the ducks. I had a Magnum ice cream, the white chocolate variety.
And look, the Radio Humberside bus is here as well. David Reed the presenter was roping all the kids in to say a few words on the radio. It was parked right outside the magnificent Normanby Hall. The staff are preparing it inside for an Easter opening. I might even splash out and get a season ticket this year which would allow me in the hall and to any events which will be taking place in the grounds throughout the summer.
We did the Woodland Walk. This is the pet graveyard for some of the many animals that have lived at the hall, in the staff quarters, and in the out buildings.
There are little wooden bridges to cross. The pond is pretty much stagnant here.
The stream is only a very slow trickle and fills up when it has been raining.
Here is my walking pal for today. Bailey was in awe of such wide spaces, with lots of people, and new doggy smells.
When we got back his owner had just arrived back after her lunch out.
I'm getting itchy feet again, thinking about going on a long walk. Looking at maps, train times and cheap B & B's in Newcastle.
Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

It was a warmish day here today as well, we're eating more salads now and just made a big bowl to put in the fridge tonight. As I was sorting through the freezer for peas and green beans for the salad I found half a box of Aldi ice creams (similar to Magnums but my favourite is dark chocolate) so am hoping the weather stays nice enough to eat one tomorrow. Bailey looks adorable. Amanda

ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Your local park looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteThe park looks like fun and it is wonderful for a dog to be able to enjoy his walk. Glad you enjoyed your ice cream and the Newcastle trip sounds like a winner. Best to you.
ReplyDeleteHe's a lovely dog and your walk looks great Ilona.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dog. Ilona as you love walking why don't you consider rehoming a dog? Would be great company for your walks and would help a dog in need.So many in the shelters without a home. Just a suggestion. Love the blog xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sally. I don't want to be tied to another dog, I want my freedom. I am happy to walk dogs for other people as and when I have time. Maybe later.
DeleteYou're quite right Ilona. We love our little dog who is now about 18 and in good health, thankfully, but when nature takes its course have decided to have a break from dogs (and all pets) just for a little while so can explore places and have holidays without worrying about their welfare whilst away. We treat our pets as children; they come first - health, food, exercise, 'sitting' with others etc. When choosing another pet (I would want a dog) would definitely get a rescue one but that's in the future. Amanda
DeleteIt looks a great place for the lovely Bailey and you to have a walk. It was a warm day here on the coast too. Visited Gorleston & Gt Yarmouth yesterday, 18 deg and sunny but clouded over a bit late afternoon. Hurricane Doris is the way tomorrow so winter not over just yet. Rae x
ReplyDeleteLove your doggy buddy. So sweet looking. All your pictures are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos Ilona, I found the pet cemetery especially moving x
