Crafty and arty treats.

Hello. Got my crafty head on again, I am waking up with art and craft on my mind at the moment. I must tel you about a great web site, and lots of videos on yoootooob called Craft in America. If you are fed up of crappy TV programmes, switch off and get yourself on the computer, and check out the delicious selection of arty crafty videos on offer.

They are all about 55 minutes long, and are broken down into categories exploring every kind of craft imaginable. All materials are covered, you meet the artists, learn something about their backgrounds, their histories, they tell their own stories, and you will be amazed by their creative talents.

I'll put one on here as a taster, it's entitled THREADS. It starts off mainly with weaving and dyeing, but don't miss the last part, it starts at 44 minutes, Terese Agnew. Stunning work.

That's got my entertainment sorted for the next few weeks, so much to learn so much to inspire me. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop.

      I know the vids are a lot of hours viewing, but I think you'll like them. Perhaps spread them over several weeks. There's a lot about art in the community which I liked. The sharing of skills, the working together on projects, and teaching young students to keep the crafts going.

    had a chance to watch the Threads video. it was fabulous. Such diversity , even in the craft of quilting and I loved the weaving stuff.

      That's good. I love the way the artists tell their story, and you get the background about how their art came about.

      Very dull here, raining. Trying to photograph my pictures but the daylight is fading fast.

    Thanks for the tip. I also watch Graeme Stevenson- Colour in your life. He travels on a motorbike around Australia visiting artists.

      Yes, I like Graeme Stevenson as well. Nice and gentle to listen to, and he asks just the right questions to get into the mind of the artist.

    I loved everything about Terese Agnew too.I especially liked the forest and noticed the tree on the forest floor.Last week I acquired a large silver birch trunk and have placed it in my garden.I chat to an enviomental artist when I'm walking with the dogs and she tells similar stories with her artwork x
