Ready for 2020

I am usually well organised about buying a new calendar, but this year it took a bit longer to find the right one. A few years ago I paid £1 for a simple calendar with squares on to write stuff. I like the landscape format because it sits on the desk in front of me, it's handy to have it next to the phone and computer.
Slowly, year on year the price kept increasing, well you expect that don't you. An extra 20p or so, ok, I'll have it because it's the style I want. I went to The Works, a stationary and book shop, and was surprised to see that my usual calendar was now £2. Bit steep I thought, so I walked out.
Across the road is Poundland, there must be one in there. The rack is close to the front door so I didn't have to walk around the whole shop looking for one. I spotted this one. The front cover is very colourful, not that that matters, it's how it's laid out inside which is important. I turned it over and checked the back. There are twelve pictures, and each month has the normal squares I want. I can have it open on my desk for the current month.
I removed the front and back cover, the pages are stapled together. Then I chopped off the two months at the bottom with the guillotine, don't need them. Perfect. I've got exactly what I want, for £1.

All ready to go, I'll make the first entry, the workshop I have booked. There is room to log my walking miles, and anything else I need to remember.

  1. In a way I'm the same. Just a basic calendar without pictures, but with plenty of room to record birthdays, appointments, etc. I get the same type every year.

  2. I don't get a calendar now but just a diary.I used to buy a more expensive one but for a few years I spend £1 or £1.50 at the most x

  3. I get a similar calendar free from my bank every year. I also like the space to write stuff by each day. The bank tellers keep the calendars hidden under their counter top so I have to actually ask for it every year once December arrives. Happy Christmas to everyone.

    1. Well done. I might try asking at my bank, not that I need one now, but it would be interesting to see if they actually have any.

I was lucky last week because when I was in a Loros charity shop,a firm had donated a load of calendars with beautiful countryside pictures.Big ones with the spaces at the side of each day to put appointments ect. They were 50p each so I was well pleased and bought two,so I could give one to my daughter as well.xx

  5. I have been looking for a 2020 planner-journal. Saw a really nice one in TKMaxx - £14!! eh, what?! Eventually i have found one that has exactly what I want inside..I suppose it was a gift that someone didn't want - £2.50 in my local charity shop. Very pleased!

    1. Some of the prices are ridiculous. TK Max is a shop I might browse once or twice a year, if I have time to spare when I am at Tesco. Lucky find in the charity shop.

  6. That's a good deal and enough to pay. I sometimes buy special charity ones for people who are raising funds for others in need but otherwise £1 is enough

  8. I use the Yahoo on line calendar which can be printed if needed but I would rather be able to just pull up a month at a time and enter appointments and my to do list. It also stores all your calendars from previous years.
