I think one of the reasons behind this is the way some local authorities seem determined to make it hard for people to take things to their local tip/recycling centre. They are pretty easy-going where I live, but when we were clearing my mother's house in a big city we found that we had to book a slot to drop off things, only so many visits per resident were allowed per year, proof of residence in the local authority area had to be shown and you couldn't turn up in a commercial vehicle. No wonder some people are frustrated and choose to drive out to the countryside to dump their rubbish!
I just cannot get my head around some people and there is absolutely no excuse for it. If you are doing up your house or clearing out a house. Hire a skip. Its really not right or acceptable to just chuck your rubbish anywhere. Near us there was a family doing up their house, they regularly dragged baths, sinks and old carpets into an alleyway near their house. Their house was clean and tidy. The street their neighbours backed onto was full of their old rubbish. Absolutely selfish. Mo.
You’re so right this is ruining our countryside. Some people might find this incomprehensible but unfortunately many people just cannot afford to hire a skip bin and rubbish centres charge a fee to dispose of extra rubbish.
I think if people have accumulated lots of stuff that they no longer want, they should start decluttering sooner, rather than allow it to escalate to epic proportions.
Hello. My working life ended 15 years ago. Now I just please myself. This is my diary. What I do and what I think about. You are welcome to read it. Toodle pip.

ReplyDeleteThe council tips do not make it easy for people to offload their rubbish. Booking a slot is ridiculous.

ReplyDeleteSome people do not take a pride in their surroundings. As long as the mess is not in their own back yard it is someone else's job to dispose of it.
